I remember all those examples and wonder what happened too.

JAPAN - What happened to the JWs in Japan?
by Black Man inremember when japan was held up as the model to follow in terms of zeal in the ministry?
they used to regularly set new marks in pioneer hours and numbers.
the organization used to browbeat the work of other countries like the u.s. basically implying they were slackers compared to the japanese.

Urinary Tract Infection=proof of premarital sex

For me, cranberry juice never worked well. The baking soda solution helps neutralize the acid irritation in the bladder. Cranberry juice doesn't neutralize the irritation, it adds to it. It may help prevent a UTI, but the soda helps after you have the UTI. Drink lots of water over the course of several days after treating yourself.

Just a note-if I feel a UTI coming on, I head it off by mixing 1 tsp baking soda with 1/2 c water and drink it down, 1/2 hour later I drink a full glass of water. I get UTIs whenever I travel & my Dr. wasn't about to prescribe an antibiotic prophallactically. A friend told me about this 'cure', she read it in a doctor book on home remedies for common illnesses. In a pinch, I've used Alka-Seltzer. Alka-Seltzer is easier to travel with than white powdered substances in small plastic bags whilest at an airport. Sometimes I have to give myself a second dose (the next day). After treating myself, I make sure to drink extra in the following days.

As a JW Kid Were You Expected To Get Baptised By Your Parents/ Congregation
by Hairyhegoat inhere is a quote from a ex-jw about this subject, i myself had alot of pressure from my family to get baptised and finally gave in at 14, wish i had left them a present on the way out of the pool that floated..at the dudley assembley hall .
i can't justify my entire family (parents, sisters, aunts, uncles, grandma) and friends shunning me because i chose not to uphold a dedication i made at twelve years old.
sure it was my "choice" to get baptized.

I was almost 19. I didn't want to get baptised, but my dad said he wouldn't come to my wedding unless I was dunked. I wanted to have an outside wedding but he demanded one in the KH. So I got baptised. Had my wedding. Got divorced 4 years later. I always felt I was emotionally blackmailed by my dad. I don't know if I would have ever gotten baptised if it hadn't been for the ultimatum issued by Dad.

talesin-thanks for your vote of confidence. Yes, my ambien use is due an old back injury too. Can't sleep because of the pain, which aggravates the pain. So per the new doctor, use the ambien, amrix and pain med to get to sleep and stay there for awhile. No, unlike yourself I don't get nightmares, just really bizarre dreams which I actually enjoy most of the time.
In my school district the class size has jumped, and the only thing getting funding is the sports program-new stadium.
L ast year we studied classical musicans and listened to their music-the evaluator was impressed, and all my kids loved the classical music.
My seven year old studied ancient civilizations using Usborne World History, along with the state required social studies. We finished completely the Saxon math program-I do not ever remember finishing a math book when I was in school, there simply wasn't enough time by the time the teacher got the class to settle down. We also finished a science course, book, workbook, experiments, vocabulary and so forth, we even made our own 'fossils'. She also started Spanish, which is unheard of in second grade in this area.

I homeschool my son, he has just been accepted into the local community college in the dual-enrollment program. He scored higher than average for English and slightly above average on math. I don't homeschool because of the 'worldly' kids at the school. But, rather I decided I didn't want my child assaulted by other children on school bus. School buses seem to be roving zoos. My 8 year old told me about the teens in the back-having sex on the seats. I just could not force him to get on that bus every morning and facing the gauntlet on the why home for school. So we've been doing it for five years and really like it. He is starting advanced mathmatics and chemistry this year. He studied American Authors last year, the year we will be focusing on British Lit. , Critical Thinking 101, World history from 1500 through the 1900s. Last Year he studied world history from the begining of time to 1850' . He is also learning Spanish, his third year. My daughters are also learning spanish.
Our family loves to travel to national parks or state parks, hike, swim, or just observe fasinating features like geysers, erupting volcano, desert ecosystems, cave formations or just animals.
W e belong to the HSLDA because we are in a high compliance state that require lots of docmentation, portfolios, interviews with the child and sometimes its nice to know the HSLDA will be there should you encounter problems.
Sorry if some of my words are misspelled or the grammar stinks, I just took an ambien and am righting this completey zoned out and flying high.

yourmomma-wasn't Turnersville Assembly Hall the one they had to tear apart some of the work from the beginning and start again? I thought it was faulty work or materials and they had to tear what they built down and start over. Someone I knew worked on the brick crew for an assembly hall in Jersey and that was the problem.

How did you tell your mate that .....
by stuckinamovement inyou no longer believed that the watchtower organization was the truth, and that you were no longer going to go to the meetings or service?.
and a followup question... what was the response?.

By the way-to answer you question, I just came out and told him. He knows I've always hated going in service-no joy there except when we stopped for coffee. I have gone in service in months and before that only ever got 2-4 hrs.
Nice_Dream-I too am a stay at home mom with no friends to speak of. I live in the middle of nowhere, just my immediate family and a huge variety of wildlife. The loneliness can really get to you.

When I told my hubby, he was quite devastated. He cried, told me he loved me so much and couldn't stand the thought of living forever without me. I, on the other hand have never, ever thought I would live forever, never felt worthy, nor measure up to the standards imposed. He now checks up on me regularly when he works out of town, to see if I went to the meeting. I try to regularly miss at least one meeting a week. Haven't been able to figure out how to miss more and not cause waves in my entire family on both sides. Rats!
