once a month about 15 to 20 elderly jw publishers would meet at the kingdom hall and one elder was assigned to set up the system so they could view jw broadcasting.
these publishers were long time pioneers, former elders, and long time publishers who know nothing about computers or the internet.
they are the last batch of those expecting the generation that saw 1914 or understood it--- to not die off.
JohnAquila-Your mom is great! The reasoning you used and the reasoning she used with the other ladies really made a difference. I bet that elder is scrambling to figure out how he is going to feed the pioneers, now that the old reliable sisters have put a stop to the hand-outs.
Isn't it interesting how if you go to a convention, the admonition is to bring a light lunch, yet the pioneer school expects a huge meal?

i have been disfellowshipped for about 8yrs now, and have dealt with the 'consequences' of that decision: all my so-called friends in the org left and i was also abandoned by my own family.

There was a general layoff then. I meet 2 of the layoff-ees manning a cart on the beach in San Diego, CA. The man had been in Bethel for over 20 years. He was very proud of that fact and mentioned the layoffs as the reason he was no longer there. He wanted to make sure we knew that he had done no wrong-doing. He told us this while on the beach on a lovely day wearing a suit and tie and sitting next to a propaganda cart.

i firmly believe 100% of jw's are suffering from the first stage of rts and a high percentage of people who are now out are also suffering.
When I first read about RTS, maybe a year ago, by this Doctor, it felt like all of my inner feelings and pain were being described. It was amazing to learn that other people feel the same way. Thanks for posting this thread.
