Australia Branch to end magazine printing

just one week from the zone overseer's visit is the announcement that the magazine production by the australia branch will end in a few months.

the task being transferred to the japan branch.

while i'm not 100% certain, i understand that this effectively ends all major printing bar perhaps tracts, handbills and other loose items.

I felt like I was reading about my own personal torment when he was expressing his fears. As a child, I faced the same fears he did, only with Armageddon replacing the rapture prophecies.

"Special" has lost its' special meaning

today is the day of the annual "special talk.

" it took me all of two years to realize not to get my hopes up for anything special.. then came the special assembly day.

I think it is called 'Special Talk' because of the Memorial/Easter Hype and the Borg is hoping to ride the coat tails of religious fervor of the season. The 'Speical Talk' seems to come a week after Easter.

Insufferable Presumption

today, sunday, my son and i returned from a real estate investor meeting that we attend once a month with other active investors.

we discussed our latest projects, financing needs, advertising and so on.

we meet at 11:00 and don't usually get done before 2:00 pm and today was no different.

I love it when JWs I meet out in public ask how I am (usually asked in a condescending way). When I say, ''Great!" they always look shocked and disappointed.

Today, Sunday, my son and I returned from a real estate investor meeting that we attend once a month with other active investors. We discussed our latest projects, financing needs, advertising and so on. We meet at 11:00 and don't usually get done before 2:00 pm and today was no different. After, we hit up Lowes' to pick up plumbing supplies and flooring for one of our projects. We arrived home about 30 minutes ago. On my dining room table was a "Return to Jehovah" brochure and an invite to the Memorial.

An elder from my old KH had stopped by and dropped them off. Now, my husband was at the KH today, he almost never misses now that I have left. This elder, who is a really sweet man, decided to stop and offer me a personal invite. What annoys me is that the man THINKS that I SIT AT HOME LONELY AND WAITING FOR MY HUSBAND to come home before I can have a life. Just because I left the JWs doesn't mean I've left life for cripes sake. I am more alive and engaged in life than ever before. The brochure offended me in that it thinks I left because 'I'm guilty of some secret sin' or that I was 'stumbled' by some stupid person, rather than that I made a CALCULATED and CONSIDERED decision, based on knowledge and being sick and tired of the ridiculousness of the JW rat race.

To me, it is insufferably presumptuous for anyone to think that those of us who have left are reduced to a pathetic life of lonely days waiting for the faithful JWs to encourage us to return to a 'satisfying' life of self-sacrifice to the org.

I'm currently running 2 complete renovation projects locally. When my son and I renovate, we do everything-the house gets gutted, redesigned for modern living and put back together. We are busy, happy people who are enjoying life and making new friends with similar interests, not moping around waiting for brochures to welcome us back to the KH. Seesh, the JW's need to get a life!!!

A question for mothers...

a human being, your child, was conceived, grew in you, and on one special day you delivered your child into this world.

a truly miraculous thing in and of itself.. when you were a jw, although forbidden to celebrate evil birthdays (sarcasm), did your heart ever ache contrary to watchtower teaching and want to shower your child with love and thankfulness?

i would think that if a religion were to believe in god, then their doctrine should have god somehow responsible for the act of procreation, birth, love, etc.

Bob, I always wanted to celebrate my kids birthdays, especially when they were babies. Turning one and smashing cake with a little fist, face covered in chocolate-that is only a dream memory for me. I let my fear of man, JWs, prevent me from celebrating my kids first birthdays. But, I always kissed their little heads and told them how happy I was that they were born on that day. Now, my youngest is 8. The past birthday saw a secret celebration, including wrapped presents. She was so very thankful and happy that her special day was celebrated by her mom, sister and brother...only dad was missing...his loss.

part 2. my wife and i were at a point where we wanted to move closer to our daughter as she was about to have a child.. so we put our house up for sale, and after a few weeks we had a buyer.

as we previously had purchased a block of land in the town we had planned to live in, we needed to rent for about a year till our new house was built.

during that time only one witness family showed any kindness to us.

let's set aside our differences for the moment and appreciate this excellent documentary cedars put together that should prove to be an invaluable tool in helping to expose the child abuse issues in the organization.. i was humbled to be able to help with this project on such an important subject, though my part in it was insignificant..
