that would be some funny ass nooolite. make all the publishers pay retail for the literature. it would definitely cut down on waste. no more walking into a hospital waiting room and seeing 30 watchtowers piled up on an end table. yay i'm done for the month! i'm a pioneer look at my skillz!

Watchtower Rise of the Service Department
by Marvin Shilmer inwatchtower rise of the service department.
today i added a new article to my blog addressing the point at which watchtowers service department started to become the organizations muscle.
pastoral work was dumped in favor of, you guessed it, a business model.

Do you get a letter when you are disfellowshipped?
by Snoozy injust curious, do they give you any kind of documentation?
is it all just by word?
surely they would have to give you something?.

"I think it just varies with the boe and how much they hate you and want to get even." <--which is always cloaked in protecting the congregation.
because we know the witnesses are just so pure and free from vindictive behavior.

Epic Bible Character Endings
by sabastious ini loved the depiction of the exodus in dreamworks' the prince of egypt with val kilmer as a seriously badass moses and patrick stewart as the egyptian emperor that orders the death of the hewbrew babies.
it's an epic story no doubt.. how do these character story's end in the bible?
i remember as a kid being crushed that moses didn't get to enter the promise land.

aaron and miriam also went bye bye along with moses. onthewayout: i always found that passage interesting, the fact that they went out of their way to let you know david wasn't *blanking* her. when you count the various residents of biblical areas that were condemned to die by divine providence, the number goes way beyond fingers. obviously moses sins in comparison to solomon's wouldn't seem relatively comparable...yet solomon still has his own books in the bible. what he(solomon) did was no different than the residents of god's various countries who got fire raining on their ass. so throw all those folks in and you got a huge number of worshipers that probably did a lot of good, and still got the axe.
it all goes to show this is not a forgiving god. he's axing his best people, just stands to reason the absolutely vicious deaths he condemned the lower level guys to. (being attacked and killed by poisonous snakes) - there's a great way to die, these are your people!!!!
if this god is real, we are all %$#*ed.

How do i overcome this guilt and fear?
by newcomer1982 inive recently decided not to be a witness anymore and at the age of 28 was still so afraid to tell my parents.
the truth is their life and knew i would hurt them.
ive had such a battle with the elders and because my dad is an elder its even worse.

most of the elders are laughable at best in context to being an authority on *anything*. they fail in the real world so they find this god damn bizarre religion to prop up their egos.

first contradiction in the bible?
by cptkirk incontradiction without the use of an outside medium (such as archaeology, fossil study).
i just stumbled on this after reading the thread about adam and the sexual subliminal message.
i was thinking about adam and eve and chronology, and a contradiction popped up in my head...so i picked up the bible and there it is.. gen 1:27 - god creates adam and eve, tells them to be fruitful.. gen 2:18 - now adam is alone?

good point tyre. "let us"....not let I the great and sovereign ....wtf is us? now we are back to greek mythology. jewish mythology always seemed to keep that consistency with the one infallible sovereign...greek mythology was the one with all the fallible dieties. i'm following zeus! wait he died didn't he? heh...

Do have brothers or sisters constantly telling you how to get your life together ?
by av8orntexas inwow im not really sure where to start.. .
well i work for a rather large company in a large city.
at one point we were the largest employer in the city.

here is what you tell him:
1. ok you see my life, i got my life together because i know what i'm doing.
2. now if i take your advice right? and then things in my life start to go bad. are you then going to step in, and pay all my bills once this occurs?
3. so you see what an awkward position you're putting me in here?
4. if i dont listen to you, i will be seen as disrespectful.
5. if i do listen to you, and again, things dont work out, are you going to step into *my* life again, and pay my bills etc?
6. no you're going to in a round about way tell me "tough shit", and or somehow i didn't follow your directions to the letter, therefore it's my fault.
7. so you see, please dont take it personal, when i tell you to please mind your own business. 7 = completion - i must of been guided by holy spirt

Angels are taking the lead in the preaching work
by mankkeli inconsider one experience in which two kingdom publishers were accompanied by a small child.
at the end of the morning, the two witnesses were about to stop their preaching work, but the child was unusually eager to go to the next home.
in fact, he went by himself and knocked on the door!

oh my goodness oh my goodness!!!! you mean in a world filled with divorce, hate, poverty, crime, illness, death, family atrocities, school shootings.....you mean every blue moon the witnesses knock on a door and some poor bastard is looking for a bible study??? what are the odds of this? must be astronomical...actually the fact that it doesn't happen more is probably a testament to just how bad the jw reputation actually is.

"limits the understanding of these ancient writings" ......so you value these ancient writings? nice. and you find it hard to believe anyone takes them literally. you got one foot in sanity and one foot in inanity. why not bring that other leg on over so you can shed the remnants of your delusion completely. *must...hold...on...to....vestiges....of....god...and...bible....yes...yes....it's ....not...literal.....but....still...has....value..*
the deed for my 47 million dollar 50,000 square foot mansion is not literal....but i love looking at it!
who was there to record it? the whole point of believing the bible is that you believe in god. ie. god told moses. if you believe in god, believing god told moses then becomes reasonable.
the foundation of the jewish mythology is pretty much centered on moses talking to god on the mountain top, and at the burning bush. for believers, this is obviously integral, believing this sets the stage to believe a whole whole lot of malarky.
