there are a lot of reasons why someone in the medical field would be attracted to the jws. you're constantly exposed to the sick, blood and guts, etc. reminds me of mash. they had it all on top of being in a war zone. constant booze and women to relieve stress. i can definitely see people in that line of work being attracted to the jw message. "this isn't the real world, this is the fake world"...in the real world we will all be playing texas holdem with the dinosaurs.

Question...?
by cptkirk indoes anyone come into this religion who is doing well in life?
not to say any one particular person never did well in life, but when they were studying and getting baptized, at that particular time in their life, were things going good for them?.
i'm trying to figure out if anyone comes into this religion, while life is going good for them.

money isn't happiness, did you know him personally? just look at a guy like robert downey jr. that guy is extremely wealthy, but even better than wealth, he's famous...fame, now he's got the monopoly on the iron man character....meanwhile he's got people hiding sharp objects from him inside his own house, and watching him 24/7 to make sure he doesn't jump out any windows.

size: i just believe they aren't idealists, they are realists who recognize certain aspects of society can be made better. idealist to me is someone that ignores math. you ever hear someone say 'oh all that psychology is just crap', that kind of person...and then they hold up some ideal, not realizing all psychology is, is the study of the mind. but they will blow that off and give you their take. that is an idealist to me, they don't care about math or science.
scenic: you dont really fit the criteria actually. because you weren't a fully grown adult. still in that mentality (back then) that you are a helpless entity, and whatever the adults say goes. when did you leave anyway?

idealists are almost always just naive weak people. realists will enact more beneficial change than any idealist ever will. idealists refuse to accept terms in the equation, therefore they remain lost forever. there was a time magazine cover that said something about 'is god dead?'...before i was born during vietnam era....they pulled out of nam, then the whole god thing started up again. wonder if there is a corrolary there. once this iraq/afgan thing ends, maybe the whole cycle will start again. then they can get their moral majority again, then goto war again, rinse repeat.

explorer....
trying to remember what i wrote..
that is an interesting story size. i tried to be as specific as possible in the question. there are a lot of people who ostensibly look happy, but aren't. do you know how he got to that position? was it by conventional methods, or other? (such as family connections). i know a billionaire that was in "the truth", haven't seen him in over 10 years. in his circumstance i know he wasn't a witness until problems started for him. (not related to money). you say there are always exceptions, mostly yea. if you can find a consistent denominator though, it will set up an equation that can't be refuted. i think we could come damn near close with this one. just think, if science came up with a pill that eliminated all disease tomorrow, and also kept you in a state of constant euphoria, how many witnesses would there be the next day?

i'm trying to figure out if anyone comes into this religion, while life is going good for them. you know, they just got a really good job, found their mate....just bought a new house etc. then someone knocks on the door to borg them, and they agree? does this ever happen?
i'm wondering if you can make a blanket statement such as: everyone in the religion came in while things were going bad in their life (in essence they needed this to bring them out of a hole), or they have been in the religion their entire life. one or the other. because i think if you can make that statement, you can build some pretty interesting broad psychological conclusions.
not trying to compare people who are either at rock bottom, or who are conquering the world. (no reference intended). there are plenty of people who ostensibly look like they are doing well, but inside they have a lot dragging them down. these people fitting into the category of "not doing well", when they accepted study/baptism.
so again, anyone? does anyone come into this religion that is doing well in life? i myself was never some big pioneer so i didn't see much of the process. and i was indoctrinated as a child.

we have the truth...this is the end of the world...but why aren't we being persecuted?

facts do not matter. we will make the facts fit our world view. ie. we have the truth...this is the end of the world...but why aren't we being persecuted? wait i have an idea, let's throw some dirt in people's faces...ahhhh much better, see margret, i told you they hated us....I KNEW WE HAD THE TRUTH, THEY DO HATE US, YES!!!!
i just got a phone call from one of the concerned types....what a joke. they dont want to listen to rational talk, because it threatens their delusions. my advice to anyone dealing with these poor deluded fools, dont give them what they want. it may sting a bit, but dont grill them. just rationally discuss anything with them, no matter how passive aggressively annoying they become, dont give them what they want. by you staying rational and calm, you force them to see the unthinkable, YOU have the TRUTH, not them. facts do matter. no matter how much wtbs claim they dont matter.
then they will say how preposterous for you to claim we say facts dont matter. then you present the facts to them calmly, logically...what happens? you force them to reveal what they are. pyramid scheme scam artists. who give credence only to their facts, not the facts.
hey board crazies, why are we still here? september 2011 was the end right? that comet thing was going to kill us all i thought? these end time dates are a lot like bad video game release dates. they are endlessly being moved up , and when they finally come out, they flounder into obsucrity.
i'll be back in december to check on the board crazies again. remember they mocked noah too!!!! so shall they mock you!!!! lllllllllllllllllllooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
