More bewildering scriptures
by cptkirk ini'm pretty sure the wt folks used this scripture to try and highlight some greater principle with regard to keeping ones mouth shut, but i don't think it was long lived.
i've never heard any opinions on its meaning, only what i was told by 1 elder.
it is jude verse 9. it basically says that michael was arguing with the devil about the usage of moses' dead body, but it becomes even more perplexing when the scripture says michael "did not *dare*" bring a judgement against him(the devil) in abusive terms.

Has a wrong disfellowshipping ever been reversed?
by lostnotfound inim not talking about simply being reinstated.
i remember hearing a story about a brother that was disfellowshipped because of the testimony of two false witnesses.
years passed before they admitted to lying about the brother and was reinstated.. what is policy in this sort of situation?

check out the old lady in this scene, this is basically what is going on in all elder's minds 24/7, except they are actually dangerous.

I totally agree that they are nazi's in one very very specific area. when the war was over and they had those trials , so many of them said what? "we were just taking orders". more passive aggressive bullshit that they can relinquish any responsibility for on the basis of "just taking orders". i can see exactly what happened flipper, they are so damned passive aggressive, rather then just say "hey this is out of our hands and its not our business" etc. they had to track you down like a dog , why? because of the passive aggressive hatred that they walk this earth carrying, waiting always to point at a new target. why is that passive aggressive? because the truth is they are motivated by hate, they themselves are so pathological they aren't even aware of it, but what they really want to do is come pull you out of your house and stone you old style. they know they can't get away with that so they couch their intentions within all this judicial bullshit, passive aggressive. you must "hate" what is bad. ohhh you don't hate the person though....lol yea right, that was evident, don't think so.
in their minds, they are thinking "ohhhhh he is doing what? ohhhhhh and he is HIDING FROM US, ME SMELL BLOOD YUMMMMM BLOOODD" some think it's a joke or i'm being stupid, but it is 100% dead on for anyone that really knows. if they smell fear in you, it makes it 100% worse, it really gets their blood craze going. if you said that to one of them though what do you think they would say? they would be absolutely 100% clueless as to what is going on in their own mind, or they would be 100% absolute in denial and telling you that you are crazy for suggesting anything like that. they thought you were hiding from them and it escalated their blood craze, guaranteed. it's endemic. it's porn for elders. that is what happens when you are so sexually repressed you turn into a bloodthirsty maniac. that is why they tell the fighters not to have sex when they are training.

and the sad thing is, they probably had that girl so brainwashed that even after the fact that they found out it was the dentist, she probably had stockholm syndrome and went right back into the org.

How Many Times Has The World Nearly Ended?
by metatron ini'm about to suggest a chilling thought: given that a nuclear war could end the world, how many times have we come within seconds of that happening?.
http://brainbender.blogspot.com/2013/02/20-nuclear-war-near-misses.html.
here's another incredible thought - if you do a google search on the subject of near nuclear wars, the lists often come up with completely different near misses.

I always liked the idea of a license plate that said "L2SWIM"

I should have just answered your question directly then added that reply. i am reading the NWT as a "bible" that is about it really. the reason that i replied the first time the way i did is because, if you can show me vast differences then i will use a different one, but this is the one i have. i wouldn't mind getting a copy with the apoc in the back, because i've seen them around.

from the perspective of an atheist who just thinks the whole thing is "interesting", is there even one scripture that you can show me (again from a non-believer standpoint) from NWT to any other translation that is *vastly* different? that a non-believer is going to say yea that is really different to the point that it affects the overall theme? the minute that i left the org i re-enrolled in college so i got more than enough to read right now.

Must have been a tale from the apochrypha? I've never read those books, have a hard time being motivated to read any of it anymore. seems like i pick it up couple pages then that is it. even if he was re-telling a story, i think especially taking it into consideration with matthew 17:3, that it is still odd, like there is room to discover something there.

Interesting reading. Also, this becomes even more interesting looking at Matthew 17:3. The NWT says that Matthew was written in 41ce and Jude in 61ce. So in Jude we have an archangel watching apparently as the devil looks to abscond with Moses body....and few chapters back in Matthew we have Moses actually appearing and roasting marshmallows with Jesus? When you consider how short the NT is, and you consider that the WT actually seems to embrace these scriptures (which is strange to me), doesn't this almost feel like the beginning of some kind of Da Vinci Code? The notion that Moses is up and walking around during Jesus time, when also according to the JW nobody of Moses time was anointed, therefore he would have no chance at being anointed (so the idea that he went to spirit form in their argument isn't even possible).....(citing scripture in greek scriptures that says something about nobody is greater than such and such if they were born after such and such time). I'm sure some people know the scripture that I'm talking about.
So, with that in mind, and then the fact that just out of the clear blue sky, the devil is hangin out again as if it's their saturday night poker game again....and michael is mad at the devil because he got drunk again and started trying to desecrate Moses (who was just up and walking around a few pages ago).....I'm telling you something is really wrong here, and it is made even more strange in the fact that the JWs of all people embrace these two scriptures when they basically contradict their entire understanding of the bible.
