This one is thanks to my sister about a decade ago, who asked Mormons once that isn't the Book of Mormon adding into the Bible? That made me question the logic in my mind because it made me thinking that how can she say that with a straight face when we have thousands of magazines, books, pamphlets, videos and the entire religion is basically surrounded around 'adding' into the Bible. Maybe I woke up for a moment right there...

Ideas for cult cart questions.
by aboveusonlysky infeel free to drive on if this subject has been posted before.. the 'bible teach' book is usually always on the cult cart so i thought it could make for an an easy intro for some counter witnessing.. just pick one up and start reading chapter 1, if the dubs are following instructions they will approach you.
chapter 1 is all about how great it is to ask questions, par 3 then says -.
"yet, many people have given up trying to find the answers.

Go to the cart and ask them to open their Bibles at Deuteronomy 4:2 and/or Revelation 22:18, 19. That alone should already be enough for a decent person to understand where you are going with this, but they will play dumb and ask "Yes?". You can then continue that "How does all the publications you have written the past 200 years count as 'not adding anything into the Bible' since within that time your leaders have also made numerous false prophecies (aka adding to what has been written), latest being 1975?"

Anyone seen a Heavy Metal band album covers with JW images?
by GrownMidget ini remember long time ago circling through different kinds of "evil apostate" websites and seeing an image somewhere which was an interesting one.
it had two rather unknown metal albums with images taken straight from the watchtower publications and printed on the album cover art / booklet.
both books and albums were put on display to showcase; assuming it was at some bethel.other image had the multiheaded red leopard monster from the revelation book.

Other image had the multiheaded red leopard monster from the Revelation book. The other image was older one having some tribe members ripping or cutting out someone's heart. I saw the photo once and then forgot about it. Now I would like to know if someone has seen it as well? If so, where is the photo located at or what the band names were? I tried to look for some time, but sadly I couldn't find anything related to it. I hope they have not gone into the oblivion for good... -

Are Jehovah's Witnesses marriages even legit?
by Joliette ini ask this because of the circumstances behind why they get married and who they get married by.
i know people say that they are really in love, they love jehovah, etc, but are these marriages even legit.
i've talked to older jw's sister who are now widowed, some of them say that they were trapped in a marriages.

Now that you mentioned it... Everybody I ever was with was always arranging some sort of get together parties with this one brother and sister that had to be together because they were "perfect match". -

Now you don't even have to go to the Kingdom Hall - ALL meetings to be recorded & available on jw.org (if you have a password)
by sir82 inlatest boe letter:.
october 22, 2015. to all bodies of eldersre: use of jw stream.
dear brothers:we are writing to inform you that arrangements are being made for video recordings ofcongregation meetings, circuit assemblies, and conventions to be uploaded to jw stream (accessibleat http://stream.jw.org) in various languages.

Haven't they recorded them always? At least in my congregation they had live line via phone for one person and recorded the meetings that were then shared via USB sticks.
Brain fart idea: could they slowly be going into the direction that Kingdom Halls are no longer needed? No money goes into maintaining and building these and you can donate money directly and automatically from your bank account. Full 24/7 indoctrination mode enabled! -

Dating someone for a few months getting to see someone for a few hours at a time then marrying is taking a huge leap of faith.
I must also add the third-party sister/brother that watches over you at every of these dates - or you have automatically had sex in the eyes of elders. Now that I think about it, it's so ridiculous... -

I know that feeling from the male perspective! LOL
Oh my, imagine marrying some über-sister that blackmails you with sex to do cult stuff. "Today we go into field-service and do 6 hour day or otherwise it's no sex for a month!" -

Do they really want to have sex that bad, thats why they get married? I never understood that.
Not everybody of course. Everybody and their own reasons are different. But what I've observed it seems to play a big role. Plus, not to mention that when you are not allowed to have sex, it turns into masturbation that is also forbidden. You will feel even more bad, sexually frustrated and guilty which then increases the change of bad mate choice. Masturbation is yet another smart control tactic.
There was one couple in my congregation who got married at the 17 year mark and then later after they got 2 kids, divorced because the woman cheated. Reason? I don't know, but would guess growing separate and "Jehovah" is not really a reason to keep marriage together. Another bullshit lie to keep witnesses marrying witnesses. -

It sounds to me like you might be meaning if witnesses' marriages are actually based on something, such as love, instead of it's legality? If legal sense, then here they are very much legal but only very few witnesses have legal status to make the marriage official on governmental level
If I understood your post correctly, I would bet that many witnesses marry only because they want to have sex (forbidden fruit), therefore it is not based on anything "real" and will eventually turn into something where people are just stuck with one another after growing separate over the years.
Humans are very much sexual beings, some much more than others and I very well understand the marry fast to have sex point of view within the cult on an individual level. On the other hand from cult's perspective using the Bible to force these more sexual humans to marry is excellent way to control them emotionally. If you follow the marriage code and happen to choose a bad mate, you are stuck and therefore their mental health eventually will decrease and it is easier to sell the "end is near, outside you will feel worse" agenda. If on the other hand you have sex before marriage, the cult will determine your faith, kick you out and you will lose everything. Either way, the couple who made bad choice loses.
However, I say that there are also many of those who have made very good choice and are happy in that sense. -

Songs that have a JW meaning?
by GrownMidget indo you have any songs that you have listened and then thought that it also works from an apostate point of view?i have always liked this song, but one time realized that i was thinking how it sounds awfully familiar, if you think about those who have lost family/friends due to leaving.this song was originally made/written because one of the actors died in a car accident.
movie was still being filmed and many spots he was needed were never finished with him.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rgkafk5djsk.

Over-protective parent?
by GrownMidget ini was something like 20-21 and there was this young sister, maybe 16 who i happened to like back in the day ... uh oh ...we met in the summer convention because i made the first move while she was playing board games with her friend.
we kept in touch via skype and text messages because lived kinda far from each other.
eventually her mother heard of the stuff and said to her daughter that the chatting must stop.... well, when two people have a little crush on one another, it sure doesn't.

Despite what US law says, it's not valid worldwide therefore these arguments about law itself are ridiculous trying to oppose on everybody since not everybody lives there, you know. Even on moral grounds many seem to have their own inner moral code they go by (ahem, look at religion - all having their own) and oh my, if someone crosses this fine line; all hell breaks loose. But since we talk about law now, I'll say how things go here before I give this topic a final rest.
Here one police officer keeps his own blog and he is also actively pursuing bullies and other illegal activities on Facebook during office hours. He has written that from legal perspective 16 year old girl can have sex (yes sex, not just dating) with 50 year old man. Socially acceptable or not, it's still perfectly legal if nothing illegal is going on such as rape, using enticement tactics or others. There has also been discussions of lowering the 16 year limit to 15 here.
This topic has long ago went off the rails from what it was written. I leave the rest of your legal and personal level moral arguments for you to discuss between one another. In general, I recommend relaxing.
