Is the USA a bully?
by Robdar ini was watching the news last night.
the latest word from the war front is that we should be able to peaceably work out our differences with north korea.
as humiliating as it will be for us to kiss north korea's ass, we will do so because they do have the ability to nuke our west coast.

Does every verse of Isaiah apply to today?
by Far North inlast night at the book study they spent an entire hour covering 11 verses in the book of isaiah.
using pictures and scriptures from all over the bible every verse has a lesson for us today.
is this really true or is it just talented writing?

LOL. I like your style! Welcome Far North. I think that an entire study could be spent on only one verse. I do not have a problem with that. The problem is, it is all strict adherence to the schedule. All our thinking has been done for us. Its no wonder only a few verses are agonizing! If we all could feel free to make our own comments and say how these verses impact us personally (independant thinking warning), The study would be great. As a young boy at the book study it was the Ezekials prophecy book? or babylon the great book? can't remember. It was agony for me! I understood nothing. I was thinking about kickball, having fun, etc. I used to watch the clock slooowwwllly drag by. I felt so bad, because I knew it was the truth, and if I did not enjoy it there must be something wrong with me.
btw, good luck finding a new job!

who loved???? the written review
by nightwarrior inactually i was one of the sad ones that use to love to try and remember what i had learnt, but after some time the written review became tedious and oh so boring....... but i recvd a phone call today from my mam who informed me that the written review was being changed to an oral review .... oh the excitement.... you know, to save on the costs, plus that 'we' are progressing????
(my mam's words)... oh dear, i am so glad i am away form the lot of 'em.. did you ever notice how the hall attendance would diminish drastically when the w.r. was taking place????
maybe after all these years, someone, somewhere has taken the hint....... oh well i can be counted out anyway...... i hope that your replies are amusing?!.

Yes, I enjoyed the written review. I think it was because it was something DIFFERENT on a Thursday night. I could not stand the same old thing week after cottin pickin week. I always enjoyed any change of pace. I remember a Sunday talk given probably 20 years ago that was very interesting becauase it was DIFFERENT. All about the kingdom songs, music in general. He even had different instruments set up on stage and played a little. Lots of laughs and fun. Same reason I liked the slide shows too , I guess.

Just Had My Elder Visit
by Undecided ini just got through talking to a couple of elders, they both had moved here from other places, one from fla and one from wis. i can't remember their names.
they said the society had instructed them to call on all inactive ones.. they were nice to me, but had the same old answers that i used to present.
i brought up a lot of things for them to think about, but their minds have been carefully programed so it didn't register.

Roddy, First of all, I haven't seen you post here before, so welcome. As stated in my post I "assume" this technology is being used if needed by the watchtower. I can only speculate on this. I do know that the average witness gives a lot of there own money for: time in service, gas, car maintenance, etc. If the elders can't find a person, its probably no huge deal. Its just that they will likely give it a good try first by whatever means they feel they need to. but??? It is not my intention to get people worried that elders will definitely hunt people down no exceptions.

Who needed Psychological help?
by JH in.
did you ever need psychological help when you were in the "truth", or maybe after you left?
would you say that people who come here on this site are in need of psychological help, since they can't seem to get over their bad experience as a jehovah witness?

scully,
I just read your link. It is hard to believe. I have seen individual witnesses act that way. But the congregation as a whole should hang their heads in shame. Thanks for sharing your story.

scully, Shocking post! Hard to believe that people from the hall did not offer help. No one offered to cook a meal, lend a listening ear? The kingdom hall should have been one of the first places that would have offered to help, let alone turning on you like wolves. Sometimes I think about going back to the hall, but hearing stories like yours pushes me farther away. They are going door to door showing love and compassion, and once your in I guess its a different story. I feel bad there was no one at your hall that offered to help.

Blodie, Believe me, Your not the dense one. Just my bad humor. I assumed that because of your having access to some fairly sophisticated databases, you would know everything about such things as credit history, addresses, etc.

Blondie, My guess is they intend on being as thorough as they possibly can. Every card probably will be reckoned for. I assume the elders use the latest in technology when finding people. I once asked if I could transfer my own records to my new hall. No was the answer. Another time, I asked to see my records. No was the answer. I probably had a legal right to see them, But I decided not to push it. I wanted to just see what the response was going to be. I was probably labeled a troublemaker right then and there.
btw, Will my credit be alright if I want to go buy a T.V. today?

Blondie, I believe I read in another post that the records are to be kept indefinitely. So, wherever the hall is that last had your records, They will probably be reviewing them.
