I have not been to meetings in about 15 plus years. A born again christian debated with me for a long time. I finally decided the witnesses were wrong and stopped going. I don't understand that anytime i pray, it seems theres no response. I have prayed routinely, but sense nothing. I want God to show me where the true believers are, if not the witnesses. I get no response from praying. I think the answer is , I have little or no faith. I find that I debate with myself now. Never come to a definite answer. reading posts here has been encouraging. any others feel this way?

1914 will be turned into a symbolic year somehow, to prolong the time of the end.
Patio, Interesting thoughts. splinter groups
mulan, I don't know any witnesses that celebrate birthdays. I must be missing something. My family seemed to always have turkey and stuffing on thanksgiving. They said it was not celebrating. I didn't care. food was good.

I'm back ... now READ THIS
by Simon inwe've just got back from out holidays after travelling with 2 young kids for 24+ hours and logged on to see the same old people complaining about the same old things with the same worn out arguments.. the topics seem to be along the lines of:posters should be allowed to say anything they want.we want absolute free speech and seem to be under the mistaken illusion that the usa has it.there is mass moderation happening on this forum and censorship is rife.
... and so on.. all of these claims are utter crap as far as i am concerned.. now, i am not going to put up with people trying to stir things up and interfere with the majority of posters who want to use this forum properly and see me and moderation as the main topic of conversation.. keep harping on and you will be deleted.
harsh?

gravedancer, I read a thread that was about demons. you posted nothing more than a pornographic story in response to it. In that case , it was not about free speech, or rights. It was about trashing someones post.

Is there anything that could make you go back?
by sleepy inis there anything that could make you go back?.
what do you think, is there any change of belief or change of circumstance that could make you return to the jw fold?.
i cant see anything that could make me go back, but i was thinking mabye some of you religious types would go back if they changed some doctrinal things,or if they stopped banning blood.. how about if a family member was dying and hoped to see you in paradise would you go back for a while just to make them feel happy?

sleepy, If we were allowed to have differing viewpoints in some areas I may go back. I can't see this as ever happening though. The tower is held together today because it tolerates no deviance. Something minor like , believing Jesus died on a cross rather than a stake for instance, Will eventually have everyone in the congregation thinking we are spiritually weak, not fit for any priveliges.
My mom tried desperately to get me to go back to meetings. She said "thats o.k. son, just believe differently in some areas if you want." Obviously she was convinced that after attending again, I would conform with every teaching in a while. I told her that the watchtower allowed no deviance and I was not welcome there as long as i felt this way. How many witnesses out there today believe every bit of teaching that comes from the tower and would believe the exact same thing if there was no tower? Not many. 99% of witnesses put there personal true feelings aside , and just blindly accept what there told, because Jehovah will straighten things out in the future.

gary, I remember studying this book with a brother when I was a boy. It was replaced by the live forever book I think? I don't remember reading your quotes, But those are pretty harsh words for the young ones. The society wants the followers quaking in there boots at a very early age.

These Expression, where did they come from?
by Sadie5 inwait on jehovah.

the truth.

sadie, "the truth".
This expression is in the bible.Jesus said I am the way and the truth and the light.
the witnesses just apply this term to the organization instead of Jesus.
