  That is a hold over from manual typesetting. There is no need to do that with modern word processing software. None.

  To say my life is "in ruins" because I was a JW would be overstating it. There are a lot of really good things happening in my life right now.

  However, my relationship with my family members that are still-in is completely ruined as a result of the messed-up "theology," practices and policies of this cult.

  Crazy, the loudly say they have the truth, yet the self-proclaimed leaders can't even figure out what a simple word like "generation" means and they just admitted that for the past 93 years they've been suffering from a case of identity confusion regarding themselves!!!

  Oh, but "It's still God's Organization!"

  Yeah, right. I don't think so.

  since sir82 pretty much covered the highlights of the drivel i only have this to say about it besides total waste of time:.

  the 2 witness rule is very much still in effect for pedophilia.

  they barely covered that 10/1/12 letter to all bodies, basically the co read it and even skipped some parts.

  so this weekend i decided to tell my dad about my being re-adjusted by the elders.

  i gave him a cliff notes version of my meetings.

  i let him know that i was being disciplined for questioning certain procedures and being accused of bad-mouthing the elder body and that the term apostasy was mentioned.

  DD: Without saying it, he seemed to be telling me to watch out for myself and my family. He also told me that I can't really change anyone's thinking and could make things worse for my family if I argue with the Elders.

  Your dad is right. Listen to him!

  DD: My Dad tells me that he was present for much of the proceedings and that the Elders were very cold and calloused.

  How was your father, an unbaptized man, allowed to be present for any of the proceedings?

  he's asking if i've read the first page of the new watchtower.. says page 8 admits and exposes the society's mistaken expectations.. says that both mags have been adjusted to reflect the understanding of generation.

  asking if it is my position that witnesses have made claims to be inspired prophets.... and saying if it is, maybe *we* can consider together some examples in the bible of others who have had wrong expectations and have gone ahead of god's timetable and see how god handled that..

  He says that he "wanted me to know that the Society has made an admission of guilt and is seeking forgiveness for the things that have been done and said in the past and attempting to make adjustments."

  This is just NOT true. If a member of the congregation committed a WT "sin" and offered an "apology" along the lines of this one as evidence of their repentance, the elders would DF them in a heartbeat.

  i have been back and forth for the last two years on whether or not to stay in this religion or not.

  most of me wanted to stay for the same as many others, fear.

  it's interesting how, in the story, the young man's jw aunt and uncle switch him from mormonism to the jw faith using third-party material (the nov 8, 1995 awake!

  article), and he ends up becoming a jw after confirming on the official mormon website that the claims in the awake!

  Talked to an elder today

  i guess the stars aligned for this one.

  this morning i dropped my car off to get it fixed and the shop i always go to is a lot closer to my mom's house than mine so i asked her if i could stay at her house while it got fixed.

  she was out in service doing returns at the time and offered to ride me to her house.
