It just looks like an out of date business model.

My husband deleted me as a friend on FaceBook
by cognac inafter this whole thing with him talking to this other girl on fb, now he deleted me as a friend.
i have his username and password.
it's like, he doesn't want this marriage to work at all.. i don't even have it in me to argue with him.

I'm sorry you're going through this.
What do you want to do?
If he doesn't want to work on the marriage you should begin making plans to move on.
I'm not sure your story. You may want to turn him in to the elders in a pre-emptive strike if you plan on staying a JW. (Personally, I think that's a crappy thing to do, but if you need to "stay in" you'll need to protect yourself. And let's face it, he's not honoring you so he'd only be getting something he knows is coming.)

Why don't you write her back and ask her why she's reading articles written by "False Religion."

What are the best questions to ask an elder?
by DarkFireWolf inso my parents cannot answer my question and are pretty much pushing me to go to the elders for an answer so i'd like to know what the best questions to ask an elder are.my first question is going to be the mediator one..and if he tells me it's the 144,000 or the anointed, i'll ask him to show me where it says that in the bible.what are some other tough questions for an elder to answer?assuming we can get past the mediator one of course.i'm going to hold off on asking about new light or 607... also, has anyone ever asked about how satan can cause wwi in july if he wasn't expelled from heaven until christ became king in october?i haven't gotten much of an answer to that either..

Forget talking with the elders. Just talk to your parents. Don't try to be cute, clever or "win" arguments, just be real.
Consider this exchange in an interview with Bertrand Russell on religion:
Q: Do you think there's a practical reason for having a religious belief ?
A: Well there can't be a practical reason for believing what isn't true! … Either a thing is true or it isn't. If it is true you should believe it, and if it isn't you shouldn't. And if you can't find out whether it's true or whether isn't you should suspend judgment.
It seems to me a fundamental dishonesty and a fundamental treachery to intellectual integrity to hold a belief because you think it's useful and not because you think it's true.

This quote is also good:
If a man is offered a fact which goes against his instincts, he will scrutinize it closely, and unless the evidence is overwhelming, he will refuse to believe it. If, on the other hand, he is offered something which affords a reason for acting in accordance to his instincts, he will accept it even on the slightest evidence. The origin of myths is explained in this way. - Bertrand Russell

punkofnice : If they or those that pull the strings do not know TTATT then why are known propaganda methods, NLP, logical fallacies and hateful rhetoric used by them?
This is a really powerful point. The fact is, every single WT study article is chock full of just the kind of things that punk is talking about. The use of these sophisticated manipulative techniques is deliberate and there is abundant evidence it is carefully planned. For example, the WT articles have been changing the way the term "Governing Body" is used for quite some time. This change began well before the recent change regarding the identity of the FDS.
This is clearly no accident.
Also, they've been carefully revising their history to fit these changed "beliefs." For example, see this thread on the subject:
The evidence is overwhelming and irrefutable that whoever is writing and/or approving these articles knows TTATT. However, the question of whether or not the GB members are really the ones in control is still a good one. I can't answer that. Maybe no one can.
I suspect that it's a complex web of interrelated powers and influences. The WT Legal and Accounting Departments must have huge influence on the reality of keeping the business running. Those forces are often in direct conflict to what a religion should be all about. Yet the obvious truth is that many JW "theological" doctrines, beliefs, policies and practices have been changed to protect the interests of the business rather than the other way around.
Probably they're all under the influence of the concept that Jehovah really is God and that they really are His "Visible Organization." It's amazing how humans will often continue to cling to illogical beliefs despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary:
You may find it informative to read this thread discussing the concepts of Confirmation Bias and Cognitive Dissonance theory.
Some of the comments are quite thought-provoking!

Anyone else in "limbo?"
by KitchenWitDinah ini've been out of the organization for about 4 years now, but have been in limbo since i've left.
the more i learn about world religions, the less apt i am to accept anything as truth, since there are so many similarities between so many religions.
i know many cultures have flood myths involving 40-ish days and 8 survivors (the chinese written language has many surprising allusions to biblical stories).

Welcome to the board!
For me it was very liberating to realize that I did NOT have a lock on "truth." Although I have to acknowledge that the process of first doubting, then questioning and then finally realizing you've been duped is not fun, indeed it can be quite traumatic for some: similar to grieving. But the end result is freedom and that is definitely worth it.
I was always so uptight when I though I knew "The Truth" and had an answer for everything.
It's so much better just considering the questions and considering possible answers, discarding the ones that are clearly wrong and entertaining those that might be possible. This is, of course, something forbidden to JWs.
I think that's what makes the process pleasurable, working on it for yourself, exercising your own intelligence and your own will. Things which are also forbidden to JWs.
Have you heard the expression:
Embrace all seekers of truth; avoid anyone claiming to have found it!
Good words to live by.

BOTR: Can someone who knows copyright law well ( a writer, journalist, editor, need not be a lawyer) can some add citations or a reference work.
With pleasure! For any so interested, you can peruse this info from the US Copyright Office:
Although laws differ in different countries, there has been a trend in the last couple of decades to have a more internationally unified set of laws concerning intellectual rights and their related copyrights.
