- In reality: No
What sort of "confirmation" are you looking for? A personal letter from each of them? Not gonna' happen.
End of discussion, what's for lunch?
i am doing a project and really can't find confirmation on line that all 8(?
) members are anointed.
would greatly appreciate it..

i was in my yard tonight with telescope watching jupiter.
jupiter is as close to the moon as it will be in the next 13 years.
to my surprise, the moon had a corona which is pretty rare for where i am standing.
Defianttruth,
Wow! Great picture and great commentary.
I've been fortunate enough to observe that phenomenon a few times in my life, but never got a picture.
Thanks!

there are really only a couple of reasons an active elder would be lurking here on jwn.. .
[if !supportlists]i. your ever growing doubts about the organization have led you here, or.

Apognophos: Elders often have wives too ;) Sometimes the wife is a little birdy on their shoulder.
Or the neck that turns the head!
you may have heard the expression: "the map is not the territory.
" have you ever thought about how this idea may help you reach your loved ones stuck in a cult?
the phrase has been attributed to polish-american scientist and philosopher alfred korzybski.
Quendi, welcome to the discussion. Perhaps by the time I've read your post you've already talked to your friend. I think your idea of a "less is more" approach is definitely the way to go.
If you can leave him with just one thing to think about then that is enough. If you raise too many points his JW trained defenses will just go up and you'll lose him, maybe for good.
We should talk my friend!

im sure this has been reiterated over the years again and again.. .
but how we approach our jw loved ones may either free them...or drive them further into the organization and away from us.
Great thread Londo!
I've made the same mistake in trying to reach family members still in. You've just gotta' be patient and try and maintain contact. This of course is next to impossible if you're disfellowshipped, which is of course the main reason cults shun former members. They know what people that leave will say to those still in: You're in a cult!
I love your comment on offering a different perspective.
If you haven't seen it, you might appreciate this thread:
It uses the analogy of anamorphosis to explain the way JW's look at the world/perceive things.Ding: Steve Hassan suggested asking the cult member to tell you about the group, what attracted them to it, etc. This puzzles me. Wouldn't that just trigger the cult mindset and get them to go into their mantra about why they are in the truth?
Yes, that DOES sound counter-intuitive. But it can bring up some cognitive dissonance between the persons reasons for joining and their corresponding expectations of what it would be like in contrast to how it actually is to be in the group, which in this case is JWs.
i feel cheated that never, not once, as a dub or as a ex-dub, did i experience the presence, manifestation, or just-things-flying-around, of demons.
not so much as a teacup levitating from its saucer.
no inexplicable cold spots.
Any action yet? (No, I have not read the entire thread?)
any fellow active witnesses lurking?
- meditate on these publications, and then draw your own conclusions.. which page should we rip out - the all scripture inspired page, or the insight book page?.
one is clearly a lie!
Ok, so if you begin with the premise that the Bible is really God's word, then you are forced to go through elaborate mental gymnastics to try to explain what any reasonable person can clearly see are blatant inconsistencies and contradictions.
It just is.

problemaddict: In order for someone to be here and "out" someone, they would have to have been given a heads up from someone.
That makes sense. Apparently from what I've been able to gather from the comments of some here that have been outed, a JWN member or lurker that wanted to get in the good graces of the local BOE felt that if they threw someone under the bus it would help their cause.
On the other hand, some have reported that the elders had print outs of JWN posts. How they came to know about it is a mystery. Maybe the elders came here on there own looking for someone or they got the word from another person. Either way, it's a dirty little business.

Slave, as in "the faithful and discreet slave." How did "slave" come to mean "master"?
