It will be 12 years for me and Mr. M next month. Mulan's list good points, still working on some parts (some more than other). I like S4's post too, a lot of good points (think he was bragging just a little--I'll let the reader decide which part I'm referring to). But like it has been pointed out, those are not exactly secrets--here is the secret: toothpaste.
Toothpaste? Yeah, I can guage my hubby's current state of mind by whether or not he puts toothpaste on my toothbrush for me. "What?", you say. {shrug} I don't know it's just a little ritual that we have, the first one to brush their teeth at night or in the morning will put toothpaste on both brushes. All is good in the world if the toothpaste is there. If not, it's time to find out why, although sometimes absentmindedness plays a part. I know. It sounds weird.
Don't forget to say I love you, in words and deeds.

i hate to see people get banned or silenced - even the people who are causing trouble.
when it comes to regulations, i could almost be described as libertarian.
because of this i would like to make a proposal - instead of leaving the banning power in the hands of a central authority, i propose that banning be placed in the hands of the individual.
I think that selective banning buttons, etc. would be just a lot of unneccessary busy work for Simon. If a poster really bugs you enough that you would use such a feature, there is a lower-tech solution...Don't read that poster's comments. Just skim past the offensive post, excercise restraint.
It's okay decide who really annoys you and to ignore their posts. It's allowed. Not everyone in this world is going to get along and it's unrealistic to think that it should be that way.

This can't really be shocking to any of us. We all know that Witnesses don't celebrate birthdays so why would this make the news?
The reporter for the Calgary paper most likely is not a JW. The legal manuvers of the WT lawyers and the behavior of the family is astounding to many nonJWs. That the father has zero contact with his daughter, for whom he has sacrificed much, is tragic and emphasized more so on the anniversary of her birth.
JWs and family members (JW and NonJW) know birthdays aren't celebrated. Some of the general populace know too (ie. Dateline and Connie Chung identified them as the group that doesn't celebrate Christmas or birthdays), but are unaware to how rigid and even rabid some JWs can be about following the rules. The continuing articles are giving the public the picture of how some Organization members will turn viciously on one of their own if the rules aren't followed.
News worthy? I think so, maybe not earth-shattering, but I bet some of the NonJWs reading the series will say "Thanks, but no thanks" to the next JWs knocking on their doors. Totally worth the paper, ink and bandwidth IMO.

i just spoke on the phone to amazing (jim whitney) who is in intensive care in a chicago hospital.
on monday he had a major heart attack, had a stint put in an artery to unblock things and may have bypass surgery.
he's comfortable enough right now, but of course will have to make some big lifestyle changes.

in the april 1, 2002 issue of the watchtower, an article appears entitled "keep on serving jehovah with a steadfast heart".
paragraph 14 of this article states: "if jehovah's organization knowingly endorsed false teachings, advice to read the bible would never be given to jehovah's witnesses and those to whom they preach.".
i am withholding comment on this statement, because i'd like to hear from any who would like to post a response.
They've stopped all US subscriptions and the publishers now have to deliver them.
Not to be argumentative, but they haven't stopped all of them, perhaps they are slowly eliminating them. My subscription was renewed in December 2001 (I think, I don't have the wrapper in front of me), the expiration date if far off enough to help provide my recycling pickup people with job security for the rest of the year.

i was reading a judicial meeting transcript last night on the inet and the accussed had added vasectomies to the list of procedures that are frowned upon, or forbidden, by the wts.
is this true?.

There was a WT Questions from Readers on this topic. As I remember it, vasectomies are frowned upon by God because it is not easily reversible birth control like the pill, condoms, etc.
If a man has one before coming into the truth, well he has that excuse. If a man has one while being in the truth, that's not so good. Either way if it becomes common knowledge in the congregation, then that brother is not a good candidate for priviledges. We all know how guys chat about vasectomies don't we?
It was either a 1999 or 2000 article, to the best of my recollection. I want to say a summer month too. Maybe someone will remember it.

now that dad has recovered his equilibrium, i just wanted to say a huge thanks to everyone who expressed concern about my daughter the last couple of weeks.
in the great scheme of things this is a minor matter but it sure affected me!
i guess my family has been pretty lucky compared to others.. anyway, julie (that's the daughter one, not the wifely one) recovered so fast that she returned to school this past monday.
Continued best wishes for a speedy recovery. Glad to hear she's doing so well.
Kids...the main cause of gray hair on parents.
