SS, I don't think this is uncommon among xjw's. We were taught conditional love, that included friends and even worse - our own family. We were taught to distrust people because they may sway our faith in their organization, ok they said in God, but we know what they are really afraid of. It is easier to not get too involved in friendships then to get hurt.

My mother had a stroke
by acsot inhaven't been on the forum much lately, been running back and forth to the hospital.
she's getting better now and will probably be able to regain use of her arm and leg, but it's been exhausting and nerve-wracking.
i was fortunately there when it happened so got her to the hospital right away.. anybody have experience with this type of thing?

((((((Ascot)))))) I hope everything goes well in your mother's recovery, maybe since she was able to receive help right way she will have better hope. I have an uncle who had a stroke. He has recovered pretty well from it. You can still see it in his walk, and he tires easily. He has a wonderful sense of humor, but it isn't what it used to be. He still works and enjoys hunting and taking care of their farm.

Anyone know?
by patio34 ini got this message from a friend, but i don't have the site address anymore.do you know anyone that has the old mini-program (maybe on a web site but i don't think so) where it said it was going to take your picture.
even asked you to smile and move slightly to the left?
then a goofy looking guy pops up and tells you your nuts (or something like that).

The other one had a camera and kept telling you "move a little to the right", etc. then it said something like "how could you possibly think there's a real camera"
ROFLOL, I haven't seen that one but I am getting visual images thinking about it. If you find it post it here so I can see it okay?

I have ALWAYS wanted a Camaro, even given the mental image of one parked next to a single-wide trailer
Good image, makes me think of Rockford Files substitute a Firebird for the Camaro.
We are car junkies around here. We have three project cars going on here.
And of course while I wait on parts to be delivered totally late by totally incompetent parts stores who may or may not send the right part,
I thought only the parts stores in middle TN had that problem LOL
Mike,it sounds like you have a great boss. I had one that financed having my transmission fixed because I didn't have the money at the time, I paid him back much more quickly then he expectd. My last payment was enclosed in a thank you card to him. I saw so many people take advantage of his kindness, I really wanted him to know how much I appreciated the help. The card brought tears to his eyes.

Dear person from Wichita Kansas who decided to be a snitch.....
by pr_capone inonce again, whomever you are, you are too chicken shit to talk to me directly.
i am so angered that you once again, although i gave you my # and email address with which to contact me, have decided to take information that i have posted directly to the elders.
again, werent you supposed to come to me???

What I am saying is that by joining the army he is making a much bigger statement than anyone else could have made.
The statement was not for anyone else to make. Who ever did this was doing so to brownnose the elders. It is not about the elders knowing/not knowing, it is about someone he at one time considered a friend. This person has no balls. If they had a concern they should have brought it to Eric. As far as the elders getting the perp to come to the source, I am sure they are encouraging this person to continue to do their spywork for them. Their so called scriptual admonishing is only applied to others, not themselves or their brownnosers.
pr, good letter- spoken like a true District Overbeer

Birthdays - I may need some input
by rocketman inwe had a birthday "party" for my daughter at a local restaurant today, with a group of her friends invited.
we are "inactive" but i still attend some meetings.
i do not comment or want any 'privilages'.. anyway, one person whom my daughter invited is a jw, though she has said that she may want to get out soon.

In your most serious voice assure the elders that no one was beheaded or hung, (especially the baker) as a result of this bithday party. Someone has quoted some scriptures on this sight showing that Job's family observed a birthday, but I haven't looked it up, so I couldn't tell you where to find it.
