A survey that questions whether scientists believe in God might be tipped a little toward inaccuracy. They might not have had the time to consider in depth whether God is real, but honesty, which is probably common among scientists, might cause them to say no because it's more honest than yes seeing that they give no consideration to a diety.
I have heard of believing atheists. They can't believe everything happened without design but they give no consideration to the possibility that God is aware and they don't care what god thinks of them.

17% of Americans are religiously unaffiliated. I think that in inaccurate.
I am thinking of everyone I know well enough to know if they are associated with a religion.
Of the 19 people that are family, 17 are unaffiliated. One slightly affiliated to religious services (any kind) and only one is a member of a church and she lives in the Bible Belt USA.

It is possible to lie about God. Someone might not believe in God but appear to do so to others for whatever profit he thinks it will get him.

the world is much larger than that chart----the majority of the world believes in a god or gods.
I found another survey that says a slight majority believe (51%).
Do you know where to find information that proves what you say?

Many people who believe in God I assume have not had their faith tested as many here have had their faith tested. If all of the people in the world believing in God where to be tested, do you think they would come out of the test still believing?

the question has an inbuilt fatal flaw.

it forces only one answer nowhere.. this question is also based on a false premise that we can be right with god if we find and follow the correct rules, doctrines, moral code and knowledge.

this is in direct opposition to what paul teaches over and over on imputed righteousness (justification, being counted as righteous, as a free gift that cannot be earned, deserved or paid for).

My belief system was always To Seek and To Find. I was a lucky one that did not get "married" to the Watchtower Society. I obeyed but I did not take to my heart what I did not understand.

God is not real to me, but he is real to the majority, therefore it is a good thing for Atheists to understand what kind of god the people around them believe in.
I looked it up because I wondered if it's true that God is real to the majority. I thought of Russia first because under Communism atheism was taught. I thought of all the Budhists too. I found a chart. I don't know computers so here's the link.

.it's usually an experienced individual (Christian for many years) that turns away from a belief in god/gods.

I'm actually going to have to go with 'religionists' doing the damage, as opposed to militant atheists.... an atheist can't really lie about God other than to say there is no God.
I think that teaching there is no Spirit of God is powerful for driving inexperienced ones away from God.
Someone posted that a prayer and an atheist's wish has the same power, like a wish has power. So it seems the poster believes in spirit, but has been convinced that there is no God who IS Spirit.

still thinking it has effected your life. Effect is a result. The way I understand the difference is a person has no power over being effected. But has all power to avoid being affected.
