in fact, it was a turning point for me.
Hi Vanderhoven. I think you meant no religion is the way. You wrote " No, religion etc.... is the way." The comma can mean that you think religion ect. is the way.
The request was to answer the question without referring to The Bible as if you had never seen the Bible or heard of Jesus.
Can you do that?

I think everybody knows someone who believes "it's MY way or no way so either do things my way or your life won't feel good if you stick around".
There are also people who have wisdom that their way will work out fine and it does.
God let's people who want to know God know that it is a person they seek. The Person of God.
It doesn't require a book or a teacher to tell some people that they will be better off getting away from the "my way or no way" kind of people and finding the wisdom to make their way come out fine.
So I know that God is real because wisdom is real and escape is real. God is the person to seek to find wisdom and to escape the tyrants that believe it's their way or no way.
Some people erroneously teach that it is God that says "it's my way or no way", but the evidence proves otherwise.

Who else besides whom? Besides the Lord Jesus Christ? Your question is vague; please clarify your question and I'll answer it.
God is a spirit. I believe the Way the Truth the Life is a personal spiritual journey. Christ leads the way.
The Watchtower Society say they alone are in union with Christ.
They have made it so it is not a personal journey. They teach all the sheep must think alike and they will tell the sheep what to think. They say they are true and every other way is false. So who are they who determine what to think? You say they are not the Governing Body. Fine. Who gave the men who lead the right to lean on their own understanding?

What is so true about the religion of Jehovah's Witnesses?
It is my opinion that the fear of what God can do (suffer a person in hell) is not such a bad thing to think about for anyone who might want to lead a force into doing torture, forced servitude even ethnic cleansing.
The most important difference between the Witness religion and every other one is it has taken away the fear of the unkown. It's not a good plan in my humble opinion.

So then, seeing that the Watchtower Society has the information that can SAVE a person according to what the Governing Body of Jehovah's Witnesses has published and the person won't listen, the person will die.
And they also publish that if a person does not "get out of Babylon the Great" which they say is false religion and means every other religion but theirs the person will die.
How are these doctrines not saying that a person must listen to what the Governing Body publishes or else die?
By the way, it is written that a person who would save his soul (listening to the Governing Body to save his soul) will lose his soul.

Fathers and mothers inculcate the teachings of the Governing Body into their children so that their children won't die at the judgement before paradise comes by the Watchtower Society.
Some people play the game of innuendo. Which is even though they mean it to say it they won't say it in simple terms. And saying the congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses are they who will survive Armageddon is the same as saying if you don't join, and take to heart what they TEACH, you will die.

I think a belief that causes people to feel unable to make good decisions and choices on their own is unhealthy.
I believe this to be 100% true. Unhealthy, unhappy and sometimes dangerous too.

I would like to respond to what I think explains the reason why Tammy is not a Cafeteria Christain.
Knowledge takes time. Also, all knowledge is not for everyone. Tammy is a young person.
For anyone thinking that she should have all her believing complete and in order is not fair.
I shall balance Zid's " well, frankly, I ended up feeling quite disgusted..." with - I always feel refreshed after reading Tammy's posts. I have a habit of clicking on a thread that she has posted on even if I have no interest in the discussion.
