this 30-minute advances video is well produced and explains the watchtower society's program to build simplified kingdom halls in third-world and poor countries were materials and funds are scarce.. interviews and footage focus on south america, africa and eastern europe.

Its emotional propoganda designed to make you feel guilty about sitting in your air conditioned, heated during the winter, kingdom hall with wireless roving mikes, CD sound system, and fully stocked library. In other words we still need more money. Go take a look at Stanley Theater and see if that would've been $ better spent elsewhere.

I think this describes about 60% or more of most congregations here in the US. The idiot, hardcore elders think attendance is dropping because some of us dont do enough shepherding... Would you have go to more meetings if you had a dopey sit down session with an elder a few times a year when american idol was on... honestly? I dont think people care anymore and this CO is just repeating what he was told to repeat because we got that same line from our CO. We actually were told to visit every family in our Bookstudies with the "Keep on the watch" brochure... like this is supposed to help!

The WTBTS's obsession with PRIVACY and SECRECY guarantees that judgements will be unfair and uneven. It creates little dictators and cliques.
I think this also helps to ensure that any "apostates" wont be questioned or spoken to either. I believe this is the main reason behind 3 elder, confidential committee's and the whole shunning arrangement. Information is power and the internet has certainly proven this the past few years. I wonder when the next internet bashing article will come out.
we often talk about the best films that we have seen but what about the opposite, what were some films that really disappointed you either at the cinema or at home watching them from a dvd (or vhs though that got outdated now)?
one film i found very boring was the "horse whisperer".

2. Dukes of Hazzard (Jessica's body didnt save this one)
3. Spanglish (really what the hell was the freaking point of this movie)
4. Open Water
5. Serenity (I think its based on a short-lived series named Firefly)

new circuit overseer came to my familys cong.
hard ass about working at night or basicly any time a meeting is being or could be held.
Our last CO was like that, he removed many elders and servants and was a bully and so codescending. Before I "turned to the darkside" at one of his last visits he handled something incorrectly according to WT policy he tried to tear me a new one.... but when I handed him the elder letter (I was the Secretary at the time) he just looked at it and said "you can write service if you want but what we decided stands". Later I learned that he was bad mouthing me to the other elders trying instigate me to be deleted, thinking back I wished it had happened so I wouldnt be one anymore, but the other elders didnt like him either so they didnt agree.
The next one after him was every bit as controlling but in a more subtle way...kind of like Darth Sidious if you watched the latest Star Wars movies. He would act behind the scenes manipulating elders to put people in to service commitee positions and suggest things during our mtgs but fall short of actually saying we had to go along but we all knew what he wanted and did it. He was so cunning that most of the elders in my hall were seduced to follow him and they were rewarded for their ass kissing with assembly parts.
Now we have a new one, older man, and seems to be a company man but very to the point. Doesnt want to hassle with anything, just wants to do his job and leave. I guess they all have different personalities but to me the most hypocritical and dangerous is the second one I mentioned... the ones manipulating behind the scenes.
the society has always been cleaver enough with wording to skate around many things.
they use gramatical trickery which makes for many ' written skapegoats' they've used to protect ther validity as jehovahs mouthpiece.. i found a quote by them when researching for something on another thread and thought it was interesting.. below is an article in a 1993 awake!

Isn't that just the worst lie almost??? My entire life was based on that and the sad thing is, when they changed it I was so busy trying to make elder and pioneer that I didnt even notice it and even defended it to other "weaker" JWs.

i had read half of it but never finished; something i read on this forum prompted me to pick it up & finish it.. my question is this: i'm curious, for those who have had experience with judicial committees, what has been the prevailing attitude?
franz wrote about the lack of brotherly love in both the committees at hq in ny and in the cong in alabama.. i've had two experiences; won't go into the details for the sake of brevity.
How you are treated varies from each elder body. Some factors as already mentioned are: If they have known you for a long time or not, what the sin actually is "apostates" are treated with more disdain and suspicion than a fornicator would be, also the individual elders on the committee and their personality.
I have been on a few with one particular elder who was very kind and understanding and a few with another brother who I guess thinks his sh*t doesnt smell and he does no wrong so therefore looked down on the person even calling them stupid and immature behind their backs. It really just depends on the individual circumstances.
yesterday, i was having a horrible day....(some of you may know).
well i was given the 2 hour long conversation on "how i am a evil unacceptable person".
as in my last thread, i stated that my sister went threw my house and found pictures of my children in their halloween costumes.
I know my Sister is speaking from what she is taught. This I know. However, as I was "in" I may have had more of a compassionate heart. I would never ever say that to any Mother.
While I agree, we cant entirely pass this off as JW lunacy though. I would never even in my most hard core JW days have said that or something similar to anyone. Maybe she is frustrated about something in her life and is acting out towards you for some reason. Can you talk to her about it, maybe you could offer help.
