  Out of Bethel and still recovering

  hello to all im new to the site i have been looking for about two weeks now .i was at brooklyn bethel from 1994 -1999 and i worked in the barber shop office blgd.

  (25 columbia heights ) .i just wanted to say hi and that many of your post have really been helpful to me as i have gone though some tough times on all levels .

  we had persons that believed they were always being victimized. Then there were the "cause finders", ones who always looked for a cause to rally around, as in pointing how Sister Deprived never gets attention and the elders aren't doing their job so they become the congregation's moral guardians......What was your Hall like????

  Exactly my current congregation. Its as if you are secretly in my cong Minimus.

  Thanks for all of your comments. What this tells me is that there are soooo many opinions on what the bible means and JWs just pick one and go with it. How can we trust anything people say about the bible then if just about anyone can attempt to spin it towards their point of view... scary.

  Parents congregation disbanding

  my parents told me that the do has advised the cong that it's going to close due to there not being enough publishers in it (why didn't he just say people .

  it is a very small cong with about 35 people in it but they have enough elders and everyone was happy being in it.

  apart from being dubs they actually are a genuinely nice bunch of people and i feel a bit sorry for them having to get split up against their wishes.. the hall is split into two congs, with the other half having about 140 publishers, and i asked why they didn't just ask some from the other half to support theirs.

  From what I am hearing from some individuals who are in the "know" this type of thing is happenening more and more frequently than before. Why cant the WT just admit that the ranks are shrinking.

  Not that I believe in the trinity persay...but anyone recall how they wormed around this one? I dont have the WT library at work and I am just curious.

  Went to a witness party....oh, excuse me, "gathering" over the weekend.....

  the mrs. and i were invited to a "gathering" this weekend.

  was just supposed to be some friends getting together for some food and fellowship.

  when we arrived, there were a bunch of jw's in the back yard(50 to 100) and the music was pumping loud(not that i minded{smile}).

  I'll tell ya, since I left the dubs I can't find one good party to attend anymore. Now we get invited over people's houses and there is no cursing, booze, flirting with others mates, etc. It's so WHOLESOME! WEIRD

  Freedomlover I also find this to be the case, wierd isnt it? The cliche' is so true "these worldly people are nicer than some JWs I know" The wife and I have been starting to develop friendships outside the cong. This may be a good setup for our eventual, hopefully together, exit!

  i bet most people did not.

  i think nearly everyone counted time spent on breaks.

  or sitting in the car for an hour and a half while the elders did a "shepherding" call.

  Its too bad that the bible nowhere indicates that you can "buy" life from god by doing all these works. Such a waste of time. If we had to work for every "free gift" that was offered to us it wouldnt be a gift would it......its amazing to me how the WT can mess up such basic and obvious bible teaching. Whats more amazing is that most of us bought it too, hook, line and sinker!
