That pre-letter was there a couple days ago and does not verify anything except that there will be another letter forthcoming dated October 4. That letter will release after 3PM EST on October 3. So although this is probably all valid information it is not verified yet.

Latest rumor - all WT construction "suspended", except for Warwick
by sir82 inheard 4th-hand, but from a full-on believer, so not likely to be an "apostate lie":.
apparently, at bethel's morning worship this morning, it was announced that all worldwide wts construction is "suspended" for an indefinite time, except for the new world headquarters at warwick.. also, the "relocation" of remote translating teams is also suspended.. finally, there will be a "worldwide" reduction in bethel personnel.. all this came to me in a non-english language, and,as noted, 4th-hand.
so it is possible something may have been lost in translation and/or in the multiple steps between bethel morning worship & me.. but if true, it would be quite stunning.

This is brilliant! They get rid of human bodies, living expenses, living quarters, and other money-sucking things like Bethel workers and healthcare, and instead subcontract out the Kitchen and Laundry services to an outside company for a fee. Brilliant!
I agree especially the healthcare. They must be realizing that healthcare costs are ridiculous in particular with all these temp workers.

Are the Governing Body broadcasts promoted at Kingdom Hall meetings?
by nicolaou ina question for those still attending i guess but are all these new jw.telemuppet.org broadcasts advertised to the the rank and file or is it more of a background thing?.
i'm wondering because i just can't believe my 70 year old die-hard jw mum would ever see them if she wasn't sat down in front of a screen and someone clicked 'play' for her.
i really want her to see the wizards behind the curtain.

It depends on where you live. In my area, which is near the epicenter of the new "Most Holy" in NY, the bethelites mention points from the broadcast every chance that they get. In service, during their meeting parts, casual conversation. It is being pushed and if you cant add to the conversation and say how great it is then you will be left outside to rot.

another abuse that most JW children go through is severe "spankings" at the hall..is that still going on?
by wwjdnwt ini was born into the jw's religion.
was an active jw for over 30 years.
i remember when i was a child my mom would take me in the bathroom and switch me so hard with the nice little switch she got from the tree outside.

Still happens yes but not with the same ferocity that used to take place back in the 70's and 80's when I was growing up. I see more taking into the back room and staying there then the "spank and return to the seat".
My mother in particular would lash out with wooden cooking spoons that she'd hide in her meeting bag. Ahhhh those fun memories

Oh its real, I just downloaded and read it. This must be for area's where congregations are small. In my part of the U.S the attendance is too high to support the scenario mentioned in the letter. I might add, high as in inflated artificially due to circumstances taking place. -

Interesting RC Experience
by Blackfalcon98 ini recently attended the rc for my area.
while there, i encountered a old family "friend" who recently lost her jw husband.
as the interaction proceeds she relates that her grand daughter, who's around my age (early twenties) has "left jehovah".

Given all of the parts lately about children on the service meetings I would tend to agree. The GB sees a wound that is hemorrhaging the youth and they are trying to fill it quickly.
Baptizing children so young suits no other agenda then to try and keep young ones in by emotional bribery. Its not even scriptural, nowhere can they justify child baptism period.

I guess it depends on the area of the United States that you live in (can't comment on outside of the u.s) because in my area there are many under 40 elders. -

Why a new "World Headquarters"?
by 4thgen ini just dont get it.
the gb moved to patterson and are conducting business from there, right?
they are not printing as much literature as they once were and they are still operating walkill for the magazines...er a ....pamphlets.

From my latest tour at Bethel, I was told the move was to differentiate the World Headquarters from the US branch
I was long under the impression that Patterson, NY was the U.S. Branch and Brooklyn was the WHQ. My take on the move is that they want to liquidate assets, despite what the May broadcast says.

Are they banning college again?
by thedepressedsoul ini wasn't alive for this but my parents and many old timers told me that at one point it was pretty much a rule that you couldn't go to college.
some of you may remember that from that time.
over time they relaxed that rule to that you did what you had to do in order to provide for yourself.

Despite what many Witnesses may say yes they are banning higher education. Even if it does not specifically say it in the literature its heavily implied and then heavily reinforced with the Circuit Overseer comes around.
Social pressure from other members is the true cornerstone of this religion. If something is frowned upon but not necessarily scripturally banned then fear of being out of the social group and being outcast causes people to go along with the crowd. Higher education falls sort of into that category.
"Sure go ahead and let your kid go but don't expect any praise from prominent elders, CO, etc. and don't expect to be in the popular group"
Really stupid!
