The Bible does not say
I cringe every time I hear or read that now. I also notice this one too:
"It has been observed" Thats the phrase they use when they are about to blast JWs for not doing something
the bible does not say—the weasel word phrase that bugs me the most.
note that though the wts says this, it then proceeds to add :.
after jesus’ birth, why did joseph and mary remain in bethlehem instead of returning home to nazareth?.

another topic based on a conversation with a friend living near warwick (i talked to him over the weekend).
he said that cong's in and around bethel, including his, are slowly starting to see an uptick with people attending in person his cong is pretty much 75%+ in person.
however there are many that still use zoom as a fall back.
Many still on zoom from my observations.
You know, a nice spring day outside, no apparent , obvious health issues
I agree Beth even though his cong has 40 bethelites from what he said to me its still 75% in person but he did say on a rainy, cold week night that could be 50-60% so right in their "backyard" people are waffling more than they used to. They don't need a push to stay home anymore...more like a little knudge. Where I am much further south of Warwick its regularly 50-60% in person and it also dips for seeming frivilous reasons. People do not care as much as they used to. How sad for the WT

He said he and his wife attend virtually every meeting in person and that many of the "biggest offenders" are the bethelites! lol Here are some of the excuses he's personally heard:
"Oh I got home from my assignment late..."
"my wife is just exhausted"
"We'll be attending on zoom today.." No explanation given
"I am not quite 100% yet.."
"We're leaving for time off on Friday"
I wonder if this is the reason the org has not addressed in person meeting attendance overtly again. Their own people do not want to go in person.
i have it on good authority from a friend living near warwick that many bethelites filed for covid-19 economic relief from the us govt.
he said that one bethelite actually told him that they were being instructed to file some sort of income, not sure of the logistics of that with the vow of poverty and all, but if they did that then they would qualify for economic relief.
basically getting thousands of dollars for free.

He told me that initially on zoom some bethelites were actually bragging about it and how when they are let free they will have all of their vacation time and gobs of money to spend! Then all of a sudden they stopped talking about it.... I am guessing the org got wind and told them to STHU.
He also mentioned that apparently most if not all of the bethel family has applied and qualified for Medicaid from NYS for their health insurance so the org pays next to nothing for their helthcare.
I was like seriously?!?! He is PIMI but very much a realist and even he was a little miffed about it. On the one hand wow what a bunch of users of the system, but also very smart. Someone at bethel figured out how to work the system so good for them! lol
anyone have some to share?
i'll start:.
when i was there the worst i heard was a thief going around stealing the $90 out of some other bethelite's lockers the day we all got "paid".

ever since the annual meeting last october and the letter to bodies of elders stating that "exceptional young men perhaps in their early 20's could qualify for appointment as elders.." it even states this in the updated elders manual!
have any of you pimo's, pimq's, or those on here with family/friends still in hear of any young men being appointed as elders yet?
i am talking 21, 22, 23, 24 etc.
Can you imagine a 20 year old lording it over his grandmother?

I guess it would depend on what area of the world you are in but early 20's elders have not been a thing since the 40's-60'sish here in the US. So there is definitely a push for it now more than ever. From what a friend of mine told me, many of the current older elders are still hesitant about it but CO's seem to pushing for training of younger ones. The GB wants this to happen.

I would like to think that the older in age elders on that body with a "kid elder" wont send him off to offer advice and counsel to older, mature people but you just never know.
Most elders are in no way qualified as therapists or conselors anyway, so throw a kid into that situation and they are just asking for trouble. This could really backfire on jw.org, curious to see what happens as these children start getting appointed to "Shepherd the Flock of God" lol
can watchtower really continue with cart preaching?
it has become like zoom.
we're people attending zoom not wanting attend halls.
They need to for the time being. Nobody wants to do anything else. People have few return visits, territory..yeah right! This is super easy and people can just sit there and gossip and do nothing.
