The Ravings of Trolls Distracts FOCUS From Real Watchtower Scandals
by cofty inmy thread was inspired by gentledawn's insightful comment about the effect the events in wales had on her jw husband.... hope any lurkers out there can filter out the signal (storys and experiences like this) to noise (the current trolls running amok on the forums) ratios.
this the problem with those who focus on outrageous fantasies about the watchtower.
it distracts from the real issues that need to be highlighted.. what happened in wales was for real.

I think you could be right, I hope so. I don't hate the witnesses. I have some who i'm friends with. I think some maybe better off staying as witnesses. They still come to my door. I've discussed many things with them over the years since I left and i returned for a while.
I think actually coming here has helped me validate how i feel. As it has made me look things up and think about them.
Thanks Old Goat for your thoughts
(in my post 1322 it should say, 20 years later i stopped the preaching)

Old Goat i never said that i don't take responsibility for what i believed and what i done. However it took years to figure it out. When i figured it out I left.
I still don't like people telling me things as if they know something and i need to hear it.
The claims that were made took time to see if they came true. I lived through 1975 we didn't leave. 20 years I stopped the preaching as i could no longer support 1914 due to the Watchtower. Not enough to be a witness about the events that were said to have taken place. As I could no longer witness i was no longer a witness. This was 20 years ago.
If i had left prior to this it would have been premature.

They took a very high position as the mouthpiece of God. Do you want to disregard what God is telling you through his mouthpiece old Goat? We were to have faith in what we preached.
I understand that faith is the assurance of the things hoped for. I also understand that it's impossible to please God without it.
My father talks in glowing terms of the anointed that studied with him how well he knew his bible but he was also as the anointed responsible for what was taught, things like the blood teaching, disfellowshipping, and the Good News that was preached. I didn't feel quite the same as my father.

Old Goat we are talking about witnesses and being a witness and why and they do believe the bible.
I was raised as one they told me they were commissioned by God in 1919 as a modern day Ezekiel I was happy to be baptised at 12/13. in the book that we studied at the bookstudy about the time of my baptism it says the battle in the day of Jehovah would begin within the twentieth century which i understood this to mean the great tribulation. We had the generation that would not pass away. I think if your commissioned as Ezekiel was to do a special work you can't get new light when it doesn't occur without looking like a false prophet.
Then we have 1975.
This is from the booklet that my parents studied when they came into the truth
Your safety and the whole future of yourself and your family depend on now studying the Bible, associating with the New World society of Jehovah's witnesses, dedicating yourself to your Creator, Jehovah God, and witnessing for him. Look! I am making all things new. (www.strictlygenteel.co.uk/booklets/look)
we could discuss what we were witnessing about.
God said the serpent would be crushed in the head so although Eve was punished God seemed to be cross with the serpent.

Just came across this jw comment on the interweb, what do you think?
by disposable hero of hypocrisy inwe are up for a new kind of persecution in the future.
a new form that was unheard of for us.
in australia, disfellowshipped and dissasociated are planning on suing jw for emotional and mental hardship for being cast out completely.

when i left the witnesses i would have had no reason to want to be married in a kingdom hall i had little reason to want to be married in a kingdom hall when i was a witness and so i see no reason why anybody else would want to be.

I left the hall 20 years ago without ever reading any books written by former witnesses. Never looked at a website about witnesses until 4 years ago. The reasons for my leaving and not returning are all from the Watchtower.
