What have you created?
by new hope and happiness ini think it's wonderful that be all posses creative power of thought, and i think this form of creative manifestation comes most commonley in the form of arts.so many posters have mentiond they are writing a book, but i bet some of you create music or make a wonderful soup.. i ask this because i was reading my old school reports and my art teacher wrote " michael is the post constructive, imaginative pupil i have ever had.
his enthusiasm wonders a bit but on the whole an excellent pupil" ....sadly i think if that statement was true i have rather let my self down with my artistic expression.
still it's never to late and i intend to involve myself in my art again this summer..

i find i am much more relaxed and pragmatic about life in general, mrs phizzy and i do what we can, but we don't get overly upset at what we cannot do.

The Ravings of Trolls Distracts FOCUS From Real Watchtower Scandals
by cofty inmy thread was inspired by gentledawn's insightful comment about the effect the events in wales had on her jw husband.... hope any lurkers out there can filter out the signal (storys and experiences like this) to noise (the current trolls running amok on the forums) ratios.
this the problem with those who focus on outrageous fantasies about the watchtower.
it distracts from the real issues that need to be highlighted.. what happened in wales was for real.

Awake article i believe was in 1969
"If you are a young person, you also need to face the fact that you will never grow old in this present system of things. Why not? Because all the evidence in fulfillment of Bible prophecy indicates that this corrupt system is due to end in a few years."
"Therefore, as a young person, you will never fulfill any career that this system offers. If you are in high school and think about a college education, it means at least four, perhaps even six or eight years to graduate into a specialized career. But where will this system of things be by that time? It will be well on the way toward its finish, if not actually gone!" (Awake May 22 1969 Pg 15)

just in case my last post isn't clear in what i'm trying to say
the difference destiny i think make you think differently. A member of the great crowd would be more disappointed to grow old than a remnant and the responsiblity for the teaching lay with them.
people like me had to break free from the fear of going against Jehovah to even talk about it.
to illustrate. when i had the elders round the final time when i left. i mentioned my decision to leave school at 16 and pioneer. they told me it had nothing to do with the Watchtower.
However the Awake had an article if (i remember right) about how if you went to Uni you most likely wouldn't finish before the end came in 1968. and i'm not supposed to have independent thinking.

Old Goat in your post 404 you say this
. A true spirit anointing does not make you better, stronger, able to leap tall buildings at a single bound. It does not make you smarter, better looking, or more faithful. In the biblical sense - and as the watchtower actually teaches it - it marks you for a different destiny.
while i agree with you in probably the way you mean it. i feel there are some differences. one is the way i understood it is the anointed all have to die to gain the reward. the great crowd of which i hoped to be a part of that survived Armageddon had a hope of never dying never growing old. The anointed also gain immortality something the great crowd don't and i think i'm right in saying the anointed are declared righteous for life at their death and the great crowd wait to the end of another thousand years. (maybe i'm incorrect)
i think this separates them along with the idea that they were all the faithful and disceet slave class when i was baptised who were responsible for the spiritual food i believe.

i just wanted to add something to my earlier posts regarding responsibility for our actions.
Eve, i was brought up to believe was perfect, I'm not and I don't think that the devil threatened her in anyway he tempted her. When i was brought up as a witness I was brought up to believe that going against or talking against the Watchtower was the same as talking against God. This was from an early age. In the what we referred to as the 'Look' booklet which I quoted from (Watchtower publication that I found on the website mentioned) that i believe was the first publication studied with my mother, it says
'Your safety and the whole future of yourself and your family depend on now studying the Bible, associating with the New World society of Jehovah's witnesses, dedicating yourself to your Creator, Jehovah God, and witnessing for him. (bold mine)
the Watchtower January 15th 1983 page 27 under the subheading "Fight Against Independent Thinking" it says.
"If we get to thinking that we know better than the organization, we should ask ourselves "Where did we learn Bible truth in the first place? Would we know the way of the truth if it had not been for guidance from the organization? Really, can we get along without the direction of God's organization?" No, we cannot!"
and I found this thread relating I believe a drama.
To have this instilled in you from an early age makes it difficult to see clearly what you should do when confronted with things that you may find not to your liking or that you follow what your told.

How long have you known TTATT and continued to participate?
by LostGeneration ini continue to be stunned by posters reporting on the convention, lamenting the convention, complaining about going in serve-us and meetings, and yet continuing to participate in these activities.. a simple question.
how long have you done these things, fully knowing it is absolute bullshit?.
i couldn't handle it for more than six months before i basically outed myself.

at one point my brother decided to apply for bethel. i was about 14. i almost threw up. bethel, being a servant, elder, meetings assemblies, weren't really me. my days aren't particularly planned. i change my mind as i drive down the road as to where i'm going. my father's life was very regimented and he liked the truth and thought everyone should go to bethel or in the army. so because i didn't quite fit in it's hard to tell when i learned the truth about the truth depending on the definition of truth or about.
however i always considered myself a good witness
not long. Watchtower came out in winter of 94 elders came in the summer and i was down to one meeting a month within six months and no meetings in 12. elders revisited.

I think you could be right, I hope so. I don't hate the witnesses. I have some who i'm friends with. I think some maybe better off staying as witnesses. They still come to my door. I've discussed many things with them over the years since I left and i returned for a while.
I think actually coming here has helped me validate how i feel. As it has made me look things up and think about them.
Thanks Old Goat for your thoughts
(in my post 1322 it should say, 20 years later i stopped the preaching)
