people are celebrating and saying: 'i'm feeling christmassy.'.

The only memories I have are things like visiting my grandmothers house after Christmas with the other relatives there and feeling nervous in case I should give some impression I might have liked to receive a Christmas gift and then I would be in big trouble. Or going in field service on Christmas day. Fun. -

I feel similarly. I don't like the decorations, most I find garish. The crowds. Best Christmas day was one year we done gardening and had a big bonfire. -

Does Jehovah Intervene - JW Teaching
by thedepressedsoul ini have been a jw my whole life and i have never been able to get a clear answer on this question.
jw's do not believe that jehovah will intervene if someone is sick, dying or stopping a car crash.
they feel that jehovah is letting "this world" play out before he solves all of these problems.

I always thought the answer to prayers was related to kingdom interest and faith. The apostle Paul was shipwrecked beaten and finally executed. -

Do most ex JW's go politically left?
by Lightgrowsbrighter ini've found it interesting that- imho- most of the politically vocal ex-jw's at this website seem to lean left.
i'm personally pretty centered- right on some issues, left on others, but overall have a pretty cynical view of all political/religious leaders.
i find it somewhat ironic that people who leave such a dogmatic group like the witnesses become so politically dogmatic.

There were lots of different feelings when I was leaving. First I thought I was wrong. I felt bad that I was questioning things. Later I feel good Armageddon wasn't imminent 20years ago. I felt angry about choices I'd made based on the beliefs we had. -

does anyone have a list or great books to read for anyone searching for the real truth?

Survey: How long were you in the cult vs what year you were baptized
by ILoveTTATT2 inhi people,.
i want as much data as possible on the effect of the internet on the time captured by the cult.. please answer the three following questions about yourself or about someone you know (for example, if your parents or grandparents were jw's and left).
1) were you raised as a jw, or did you convert?.
-
Ucantnome
1) raised
2) 1971
4) 1996 (first elder visit 1994 last 1996 they have visited many times over the years)
25 years.
(I know of two people who have that's say, woken up. Both use the internet and are familiar with what is available on there. I had the internet around 1990 and I would think similar of them. However if both were to leave today there would be 30/40 years between baptism and leaving and neither are citing the internet as the reason for their waking and its nothing to do with me one. I don't know of any others personally. One was raised and one was a convert.)

"Most women would prefer to be stay at home housewives. Women's lib did alot of damage to women!"
by purrpurr inthe above is a quote from a jw female relative.
this was in response to a discussion about the suffragette movement ( and the movie about it that's currently in cinemas).
she seemed to think that it would be so much better if women were just daughters/ wives/ mothers and didn't go out to work and have career's?

i have made every meal in our house for the past twenty years. I have done the shopping the cleaning the gardening the washing the banking painted the house and worked in my own business. I got up most nights when the kids were small one woke me every night almost for five years. i walked the dog fed the rabbits and cat. I have also worked for employers.
I think its easy staying home looking after the kids and running the house and if i had a choice not to work and stay home and run the house that is what i would do.
that's why my daughter is choosing it.

my daughter is well educated but wants to stay home and be a housewife like my mother who wasn't as educated. My son on the other hand I think wont have the choice.
