How many of you actually KNOW the bible OR God???
by Mark Zyche insince jws are sooooooo terrible and full of lies.
what the heck do you think about fat santa, and and days later the celebration of janus?.
since you seem to be so good at looking at the "lies of the watchtower" what do you people think of your lives now, religiously speaking?

Mark Zyche I raised my kids ok. The last witness that tried to encourage me back I knew when I was young he's been married three times and his good news condemns my kids. I had to laugh -

Ex JW's - Which Christian denomination are you with now and why?
by Truthexplorer inthis is a question for ex jw's who have joined another christian faith group.
the purpose of my question iis to find out which christian faith group you chose after leaving watchtower and what convinced you to travel this new spiritual path you are on.
i am interested to know because i personally would like to find a genuine faith group where i can feel true christian liberty as i initially thought i had with the witnesses.

When I left I didn't really want to spend more of my life going to religious meetings and singing and such. I'm still a Christian and so is my wife and grown-up kids.
I did go to a few churches as one of my kids wanted to try some but it's not something I really want to do on a Sunday.

Should doctors tell JW patients that there is disagreement about Watchtower's blood policy.
by Lee Elder inthis has been a controversial issue among doctors and medical ethicists.
i think it basically comes down to the fact that physicians have a responsibility to establish the presence of informed consent.
is it really possible for a person to give informed consent if they are not accurately informed?.

Fisherman,
Ans: Only at the point of dying. Isn't courage about risk?
On the two occasions that I had to refuse blood when I was a Witness I didn't feel it was about courage it was more to do with fear. Fear of displeasing God. I had as the Insight book says ' wholesome dread of displeasing him'
'risk is a consequence of action taken in spite of uncertainty' (Wikipedia. under Risk)
It also involved faith 'faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for', the title deed, hupostasis which has a certainty to it. If I died faithful to God I could have a resurrection whereas if I died unfaithful my hope was at risk.
That's why I didn't feel it was courage to refuse a blood transfusion. It would have taken greater courage as a Witness to say yes to having a transfusion and risk displeasing God and losing out on ones place in the spiritual paradise, especially on one occasion when I wasn't the person needing it.

JW are courageous people. They are always prepared to die for their beliefs so their stand is not out of fear of risk of infection, besides, risk is better than certain death and jw know it.However, the medical risk do encourage the religious stand
You are sure of this

What did being a JW teach you?
by punkofnice inthese are some of the things the wbt$ 'taught' me:.
dishonesty is fine if it's to trick people into joining the cult.. if your spouse stops believeing, the best thing you can do is break up the family.. the laws of the governing body overrule any other laws...or else!.
my friends are conditional.. avoid loving people, they'll only let you down or get df'd.. unintelligent dumbos are better than intelligent ones if the dumbos are elders or above.. hate is better than love.. i am not good enough and god will probably enjoy killing me.. demons will appear in my room at night.. ignore practicallity if being practical or loving prevents the leaders getting money or praise.. god hates.

What did it teach me
It's hard to know. Was it my parents?
I suppose at baptism I had learnt a set of beliefs that were probably unique. Which were probably taught.

Are Magicians Spawns of Satan the Devil?
by Cold Steel ini was perusing the internet not long ago and came upon this series of videos by a guy calling himself xendrius.
it declares that many of today's best magicians are in league with the devil.
his claims are based on his observation that the tricks would be impossible to do unless the magicians had made unholy pacts with the devil.. so what's the take of the wtbts?
