most of us left the organisation because we could no longer stand one or other aspect of it, perhaps its very dictatorial administration, the disappointment due to the false promises and vain hopes raised by its leadership, disagreement with the blood ban or pedophile and shunning policies, the feel one gets that this is a business and not a religious organisation manipulating its members to its own profit etc etc.
these are of course valid reasons for rejecting this religion and refusing to identify with it but do the jws who stay in have a valid argument for rejecting leaving the org?
they will say: "ok our religion, our society has its flaws but what human society doesn't?
when i was in i believed it to be God's organization. when i left i felt bad but i couldn't accept some teaching and so could not preach it even if it was God's organization.
i think as long as a person isn't being a hypocrite then it's fine staying in.
i've noticed how on newbie threads everyone jumps in to say hello, even other newbies.. it got me wondering.. when you were in, were you the type to greet all the newcomers and visiting bros and siss, or would you stay in the background and wait a few meetings to manage to go over to say hello?.
i'm not particularly anti-social, but as a foreigner, meeting new people meant they felt they had the right to interrogate me on my life story in the first five minutes of the acquaintance just because they could see i wasn't one of them.
being assigned to preach with a newcomer was torturous and i would shut my eyes waiting for the interrogation to start.. so anyway, that's what made me fall into the latter group.
i only introduced myself to one sister and went out with her for a while.

people harp on over this and that that was wrong 50 years ago, but today jehovah's witnesses have all the bible's prophecies pretty much figured out in their entirety.. .

i think what if they are wrong and some things were right are two different things

at least that's how it seems to me. if they are were wrong. it could have cost me a lot. some things were right may have helped me in someways on an everyday basis.
as i fade further from the jws, i'm finding it increasingly hard to maintain faith in god.
i've been exploring many alternatives from atheism, agnostic, apathetic, pagan, and satanism (not devil worship, but the promotion of self-indulgence) to name a few.
i'm thoroughly intrigued to learn how those of you who remained christian managed to maintain your faith in god and christ, especially after enduring all the lies that we've been told about them.
i never found it to be a question. i just never felt any different after leaving the Witnesses. i think i understand more now why since finding this site. so i can't really give you anything as to how.
it seems like lots of people have big dreams of 'destroying the watchtower'.
it's usually linked to a story of how they were wronged and want some revenge.
do these 'in your face' attempts to convince people that the truth isn't the truth really have an effect?.
i think a person leaves because of experiences.
some i know their lives wouldn't be that much different whether they were witnesses or not.
