Sex and Marriage
by nicolaou inmost religions indoctrinate a standard sexual 'morality' into their followers.
sex before marriage is wrong, gay sex is wrong, same sex marriage is wrong, masturbation is wrong.. let's not turn this into another religion bashing thread (too easy), i was wondering how much of that pre-packaged thinking you still hold to?.
i still value marriage, more than ever.

How Many JWs Really Believe Everything They Are Told?
by minimus ini think that 80% of jws do not truly believe in what they are taught .
the vast majority stay in because of family, friends, ignorance and a lack of caring about any of the facts regarding the "truth".
many people are lazy.

I think I would find some difficulty in defining the religion as things change and somethings I find a degree of ambiguity to them.
for many years I felt I did not understand the beliefs that well however I accepted the identity of the faithful and discreet slave class and therefore accepted the religion irrespective of whether I understood everything believing they were being used in the capacity of giving spiritual food at the proper time.
I would think the majority think something similar, I would hope.

I visited a few churches. I would probably choose Catholicism if I was to choose any.
my father had a bible study with a chap for several years many years ago and he came to the hall never baptized eventually he told my father he was going to become a Catholic and ended the study.

Which bible character do you hate the most?
by Bonsai inthe more i think about it, the more i feel an extreme dislike for the apostle paul.
he was on par with hitler in his treatment of the jews before he "saw the light".
he replaced jesus teachings of love and mercy with a more legalistic, pharisaical concept of devotion to god.. any evil person can come to believe in god and worship him if the scales were literally and miraculously removed from his eyes.

left and right have always been a problem.
i was asked once to sit in some ones car and put my foot on the brakes, I couldn't remember which one it was. I had to stop thinking about it, been driving for 30 years.

Eagerly anticipating the death of billions!
by stuckinarut2 insurely someone who eagerly looks forward to the death of billions of people (including babies and children) is not emotionally healthy?.
yet, that is the key belief "happily" anticipated by witnesses.... food for thought?.

I spent hours in the field service trying to help people to a knowledge of Jehovah. My mother spent hours over years talking to her twin sister about the truth I don't think she was 'someone who eagerly looks forward to the death of billions of people'

Surely someone who eagerly looks forward to the death of billions of people (including babies and children) is not emotionally healthy?
Yet, that is the key belief "happily" anticipated by Witnesses...
I was a Witness for many years and in my opinion that is rubbish.

Interview with Jehovah's witnesses
by John Doe64 inhello i am john a student of naperville north high school.
in a comparative religion project we have to research a branch of christianity mine being jehovah's witness and do an interview so this is out to all jehovah's witnesses or former jehovah's witnesses.. what do you enjoy about being jehovah's witness and what do you enjoy the least?.
what is communion like for jehovah's witnesses?.

I am no longer a JW however I was raised as one and remained one for over twenty years after my baptism.
What did I enjoy about being Jehovah's witness and what did I enjoy the least?
I enjoyed feeling close to God and the least was anything that I was asked to do as a privilege like read in the meeting or be on the platform giving a talk or similar activities.
What was communion like as a Jehovah's witnesses?
We had the memorial of Christ's death once a year. I didn't enjoy the meeting although I had respect for the occasion.
My most important belief as a Jehovah's witness
To serve Jehovah to the best of my ability.
What effect did my belief have on my life?
It affected my marriage and my working life. I gave up formal education at 16 to be in full-time service and made my decisions based upon my faith. I think it probably had a good effect on my conduct. As an example one of my teachers came to the kingdom hall and told my parents that my behaviour in school was very good but it could have just been my parents that made a difference. Wouldn't have wanted a bad school report to have come to my father. So that is why I say probably. I think the belief has been an influence on our marriage.
My stances on homosexuality, abortion, and divorce
I am no longer a JW I believed and continue to believe that it is an individuals choice. I am a heterosexual male who was in good standing in the congregation all of the time I was there.

Do you need Art and Music in your life?
by The Rebel inmusic and art have been a big part of my life since i was a little boy, and although i was never able to play a decent guitar, i can paint.
my art teacher from college said " i was the most imaginative and constructive pupil she had ever had.
" i loved that comment, because in translation i realised it meant i had to work harder than other more naturally talented students, but the effort was always worth it.

Yes, more art than music
