Did any of us ever enjoy meetings?
by stephanie61092 inthis is a legitimate question.
did any of us ever find real joy in being at the meetings?
did any of us ever finish a meeting and think "i feel so enriched"?

THE LINGERING SHADOW OF '75
by Terry innone of you are old enough to have been there, i suspect.
i had been in prison two years as a jw conscientious objector when the exciting news about 1975 spread like wildfire.i was paroled from prison in 1969 and immediately began pioneering.
the pressures began mounting throughout the organization.

In an earlier post on this thread I mentioned.
"When my parents studied and baptised the elder who studied with them said (according to my brother) that it was impossible for him to die of old age. This was due to faith, faith in the good news I believe."
I think that these two quotes from the Watchtower may show why he felt it was impossible for him to die of old age.
Watchtower July 15th 1961 page 423
‘And since faith is also “the assured expectation of things hoped for,” it follows that we must also have knowledge of what are the things we may and should hope for. Again, God’s Word provides us with the needed knowledge. It assures us that paradisiac conditions will be restored to this earth, and that on a world-wide scale, and that this restoration work can be expected to begin within the present generation.’
Watchtower September 1st 1969 page 532.
'Jehovah has made many promises of things yet to occur, One may hope that such things will come to pass, but such expression may only be a whimsical wish, not real faith. Faith is more than just an expectation. It is expectation that is assured to such a degree that it is able to support , uphold and guarantee that what is hoped for will become a reality. This is the meaning of hypostasis, a word common in ancient papyrus business documents in reference to guarantees placed on the transactions.
...Substantially the words [hy.po’sta.sis and e’leg.khos] mean that faith gives to things future, which as yet are only hoped for, all the reality of actual present existence,; and irresistibly convinces us of the reality of things unseen and brings us into their presence.” The Expositor’s Greek Testament, Vol.IV page 352.That's why when 1975 came and went I still believed the end was close and stayed a JW and wasn't 'heartbroken, shaken, upset and finally depressed.' However I do feel it had some effect for years after

Faith and Lies.
by sparrowdown inif you were hooked up to a polygraph machine when you were still an asleep, kool-aid drinking dub and asked if you agree 100% with every single wt teaching (asked as individual questions and collectively), would you have "passed" with no signs of deception?.
i know, i definitely would not have "passed" such an interegation.
i would have tripped up on questions about blood, dfing and non jws being marked for destruction just to name a few.

In the September 1974 Kingdom Ministry on the front page in the letter it mentions the Eternal purpose book that was in my previous post along with another book that was released at the summer assembly that year and urges the reading of the publications and says the information the 'books contain you need to know now.' and not to wait until it was covered in the public talks. Maybe it was due to this.
In the book Gods Eternal Purpose Now Triumphing for Man's Good. (1974) page 131/132
'The first half or evening period of Gods seventh creative day was now closing, 3500 years from the creation of Adam and Eve, The morning of this creative day was due to begin at 526 BCE.'
page 186
'..hurling them into the abyss and sealing them up there, bound as with chains for the next thousand.Revelations 20;1-3 pictures this, not as a part of the war at Har- Magedon, but as a follow up of that war.'

so i think was the elder wrong to say we only have months to go?
In the Kingdom Ministry on the back page there was the feature Presenting The Good News. In the October 1974 issue it was ' With the "Eternal Purpose Book".'
i was presenting the 'good news' with the 'Eternal Purpose book,' as a pioneer and so was the elder. I assume
When my parents studied and baptised the elder who studied with them said (according to my brother) that it was impossible for him to die of old age. This was due to faith, faith in the good news I believe.

I can't just walk away, I need to keep reinforcing what I did was right (Leaving the org)
by pleaseresearch inwhen i speak to my mum about things, she says why do you keep looking on the internet and news etc... why don't you just live your life and forget what you learned growing up.. maybe i was so so indoctrinated as a child that even though i have woken up and learnt ttatt, i still need to keep up to date with new findings from ex and fellow brothers and sisters.
listening to their testimony about why they left.. this was to me and all of you i'm sure, the truth.
so to finally wake up is absolutely massive.

The Truth it was more than a belief it was my faith.
