Thanks brothers and sisters for your well thought out comments. You know who you are. Didn't expect to come to this site to be showered with expletives but we'll have to take the good with the bad. Counter evil with good. Thanks Stan for that interesting pic. Very imaginative.

Things you didn't expect to like...
by sparrowdown instuff you never expected you would do or enjoy doing as a non-witness.... researching - always thought i hated study and reading turns out it was just wt literature i hated studying and reading.
having political opinions and just having opinons and beliefs that are not set in stone and that i am free to assess, review and adjust as i become more aware of imformation .
droping the f-bomb every now and again to make a point feels surprisingly good but that may just be post-religious rebellion that wears off... eventually.

Well, I like being able to think freely. To think for myself instead of being told what to think. It's so liberating.

Hi, my very first post. A milestone for me.
Just watched Rachel Maddow's segment on Rod Rosenstein's refusal to be extorted by GOP Trump Allies in Congress. Had to watch it 2 times. Notably for being acquainted with Robert H. Jackson whose quote is paramount for all ensnared by religious sects.
"Our forefathers found the evils of free thinking more to be endured than the evils of inquest or suppression. This because thoughtful, bold and independent minds are essential to wide and considered self-government."
Jackson was talking about politics in his speech but it is imperative that each individual should have a thoughtful, bold and independent mind. That is not how GB thinks the sheeple should be like but voiceless sheep confined in their rigid mind lock.
That is why your topic touched a chord in me. I know it is not what you have in mind. But I truly missed the opportunity to read far and wide. Elders always poured scorn on me when I mentioned that I read books about Abraham Lincoln, Steve Jobs, Albert Einstein etc. Adding Robert Jackson to my list.
Silly to spend so much time pouring over the Society's literature and nothing else. That could explain the hollow empty lives of JWs whose only purpose in life is to hassle everyone they meet with their mind numbing message.
mind-numbing : so extreme or intense as to prevent normal thought. Now, livin la vida loca
Cheers

My impressions of the cart witnessing
by Sour Grapes ini have watched tons of youtube videos of our exjdub friends approaching and talking to the jdub manikins at their carts as they give a great witness to the world by sipping their hot lattes, updating their social media, chit chatting to each other, and the most important thing of getting their time in, counting their hours.. when the jw's see someone approach with a camera they do several things, they will turn their backs on the person, or look at the person with a frown and act like the person isn't even there.
the witlesses refuse to answer simple, clear, and precise questions.
when i was an elder i loved to get into discussions and debates with trinitarians, priest, clergymen and those who were born again.

Me, a newbie (Just had a look in, a few hours ago). Kind of cool site. Saw my post immediately appearing on the forum without being subjected to long and arduous vetting by over zealous administrators or their minions. Wink, wink.
Have a nice day, good folks.

I was in Hong Kong last May for holiday and saw 1 young JW lady manning the cart at 2 pm. Very pretty and of Chinese descent. She looked so thoroughly miserable even though the cart was near the beautiful harbour with lots of people passing by. I didn't see anyone stopping to look at the magazines. What's the point of standing there alone when she could not even muster up a smile? At least she could have whipped up her handphone and watch a movie. But then the ever strict elders will be quick to censure her for dereliction of duty. Sad waste of a young, sweet thing. One would think at the very least, a horny little bee might want to take a peep at the irresistable lass.
