  Moe,

  This country was founded upon dissent. Dissent is the key to the success of this country and the freedoms we all enjoy. Flag burning, however distasteful, is a form of dissent that deserves the protections it has under our Constitution. Those who would like to stifle dissent are the ones I'd like to see moving out of our country (not directed at you Moe, but at those who actually work against freedom of expression in this country).

  BTW,

  I do salute the flag on every applicable occasion and I am totally patriotic. I do so by choice, and I reject any rules (past or present) that would require me to do so.

  I also support the right of folks to burn the flag. As much as I dislike those who are doing it, freedom of expression is an important concept that is more valuable to me than my personal dislike for the idiots that burn the flag.

  No doubt you are correct, this will likely go to the Supreme Court and it has about 99% probability of being reversed, particularly in light of the current makeup of the Court and it's demonstrated history of disagreeing with the 9th Circuit.

  My mom used to go to my classes at the beginning of the school year to inform the teacher that I was not permitted to salute the flag. This lead to teasing by my classmates. I was called "communist" in the hick town I grew up in over that. It also lead to fistfights.

  However, although this added to the misery of being a JW child, I actually respect the Witnesses for standing up for their right not to salute the flag. I could live with that, my main issues are with the encouragement / peer pressure put on parents to force their children to go from door to door, marketing the snake oil of the Watchtower cult, as well as the forced meeting attendance and all other miserable aspects of being a JW child, including without limitation the denial of holidays and birthdays, prohibition against involvement with school activities (sports, clubs, etc.), discouragement of education, attempts to override governmental authority mandating blood transfusions for children when needed to sustain life, and the shunning of "worldly" family members and those who have left the cult, etc.. This cult sucks the happiness out of childhood, and leaves most unprepared to fit in outside the cult.

  Clearly, Mr. Franz has not acted in a manner that meets this definition. You've provided a purported "scriptural" definition, but no citation to the exact scriptures in the bible that contain the definition of lawless that you've provided. Additionally, you did not state that Mr. Franz was lawless in the "scriptural" sense, so when I asked you to clarify/retract, you had the opportunity at that time to make yourself clear. This was all I was looking for in my previous dialogue with you.

  I think you've made up that scriptural definition, so I challenge you to provide the citation that substantiates your claim. If you are able to do so, then I'll take this as a clarification of your earlier comments.

  You are the liar. You referred to Ray Franz as "lawless." I nailed your stupid ass by asking you to present any evidence whatsoever that Mr. Franz had violated any laws. You failed to come through with anything other than another thread in which you accused Mr. Franz of being a gossipper. Your accusation that I've slandered you is libelous, and if you don't watch your act, I'll track you down and personally file a lawsuit against you. Mr. Franz may forgive you, but I don't tolerate nonsense from idiots like you, and especially not when those idiots are also attempting to advocate the interests of something as vile as the Watchtower. Don't underestimate my capabilities or my resolve - - you've been warned.

  Also, you've never been able to explain why the Watchtower is not unjustly enriched by the labors of the children whose parents force them to slave away, selling the snake oil known as the Watchtower to anyone who is mentally weak enough to accept it.   Positive things? Like child abuse, exploitation, and pedophilia protection? Oh, maybe you were thinking of the other JW positives, like claiming victory when their members foolishly die for refusing blood transfusions, or destroying family unity through shunning of those family members who think for themselves.

  If you think You Know is "handling himself rather well in response to the questions," then you have a warped perspective of what it means to succeed in debate. He has never addressed any of my questions; rather, he runs from them like a scared poodle with his tail between his legs covering the poop that got stuck there. He defamed Ray Franz, but when asked to provide support for his comments, he was unable to do so. If he had any decency he would retract those comments, but his overinflated ego won't allow him to. If this is the type of person you respect, then I think that explains why you ran back to the Watchtower cult. You'll never escape its control.

  What exactly do you perceive him to be handling well? Judging others? Defaming others, the way he did Ray Franz (e.g. when he called Ray Franz "lawless" but was unable to recall any illegal conduct on Mr. Franz' part)?

  As for you, what's your game here? Oingo Boingo had a song for it during the 1980s: "Who do you want to be today, who do you want to be?" Who do you want to be today an apostate or just another slave? LOL
