  i'm an ms (accounts servant) in a large congregation in canada.

  over the last several years i've faught a hard-won battle to rid my mind of all religous and supernatural beleifs.

  I think the origin of humans and our purpose on this planet is beyond human comprehension. I reject all of man's ideas regarding deities, yet allow for the possibility that some superior entity of a nature entirely unfathomable by man exists or existed and played some role in the development of our universe and everything in it. However, if such an entity exists or existed, I believe it, and everything about it, was and is beyond human comprehension.

  Because man doesn't like unanswered questions, religion was born. The world has been adversely affected by the cancer that is religion ever since.

  I'm quite happy stating that my faith is "none."

  Thinking of becoming a JW.

  hi,.

  i am new to here so please be bear with me.. i have always believed in god, but was never baptised, my parents wanted me to make up my own mind religon wise.. i am thinking of becoming a jw and am just needing some advice on how to do this, bible study and jw beliefs.

  also do jw say grace and how.. i am greatful of any help.. thanks.

  the governing body's decision to declare themselves the faithful and discreet slave appears pretty arrogant and presumptuous.

  since most of us regard the governing body as arrogant and presumptuous, it's easy to conclude that is the reason that they did this.. what if something else is going on?.

  remember when steven unthank was able to get the faithful and discreet slave charged in australia for failing to comply with the working with children act?

  I SURE AS HELL HOPE NOT!!!! THE WTBTS CORPORATIONS ARE TOO CHEAP TO BUY THEM LIFE-ALERT, SO IF THEY FALL, THERE WILL BE NO ONE TO HELP THEM GET UP!

  My brother died tonight

  just got word that my youngest brother died of pancreatic cancer.

  he was diagnosed in early august.

  this has been really tough for me and my family..

  It sounds like you've made some poor decisions in your life, and getting involved with the Jehovha's Witnesses is just the latest bad choice you've made. Your decisions will impact your kids, and exposing them to a very destructive, high-control group will most certainly harm them. It's too bad that your children are suffering from the decisions you've made in the past. For their sake, I hope you wake up and get away from this cult before your decisions ruin their future too.

  In my opinion, raising a child in the JW cult is child abuse. No child should have to experience the unhappy childhood that involvement iwith the Jehovah's Witnesses will most definitely cause.

  They only gave you two reasons to not get baptized?

  I, and many others here, can give you thousands of reasons to avoid baptism. Consider the elder's advice to be a good thing.

  As for your son, I was born in to being a Witness, and many decades later, I still resent that my parents forced me to attend meetings, go out in service, etc.. Think carefully; your son will be an adult in 7 years, which will go by very fast. If he determines that you forced him to participate in the cult that is the Jehovah's Witnesses, he will resent it as well, and might decide to "disfellowship" you as his mother, as my siblings did to my parents

  Put your son's interests first, and get the hell out of the kingdom hall! As a single mom, there are far more important things for you to take care of for your son, and getting involved with this cult will most certainly rob you of the time you need to be spending with your son or working on his behalf.

  Be careful, you are on the edge of the cliff. Baptism is the free fall . . .

  what do you like as a gift?

  i have absolutely no idea what to make or give my son-in-law for his birthday or for christmas.

  he has all the newest gadgets which i could not afford anyways so i am stumped.. gotta be inexpensive (on a strict budget) and if i can make it all the better.

  A one year subscription to both the Watchtower and Awake magazines!

  Well, if you want to get him something other than toilet paper, there are a lot of options. I always enjoy gifts geared towards the hobbies and other activities I enjoy in life. Motorcycle gear, mountain bike junk, anything related to the ocean, etc. work for me. Even small, inexpensive items that are geared towards my interests are appreciated (e.g., cycling socks, gloves, yacht, etc.) as I do get use out of them.
