Theft of Reminiscing
by rebel8 inso i'm now at the developmental stage of adulthood when my peers and i are beginning to reminisce about our childhoods.
if you've ever taken developmental psychology, you know the importance of reminiscing.
yesterday i went to an event about something retro and participants were really nostalgic and just really enjoying themselves.

Rebel8,
Your post is right on. The WTBTS stole so much from those who were born in. Birthdays, holidays, etc., it was not about the material gifts; what we missed was the family get togethers, having a special day to see everyone again and have a good time. There's nothing special about getting to look at wine and crackers while listening to more of the same old boring lectures. I can not figure out what is special about the Memorial, other than the fact that I haven't attended a Memorial while sober since my early teenage years.
The WTBTS goes to great lengths to try to extricate every bit of joy that they can from the lives of the children of the "great crowd" of suckers who are assisting this publishing empire in the exploitation of their children. The WTBTS also causes its members to substitute quality family time with unpaid WTBTS marketing activities and WTBTS brainwashing sessions aka "meetings." There is no time left to spend with your family after dealing with the obligations imposed on you by the WTBTS.
The WTBTS eliminates everything that is happy about having a family. While I will always love my parents, I do not respect their choices in life. I think their decision to raise my siblings and me in a JW lifestyle was both foolish and selfish. I've forgiven them, but I will never forget that their stupid choices harmed my childhood and inflicted severe emotional trauma on my siblings and me.
I echo Rebel8 sentiments re: warnings to parents. Parents, be forewarned, a decision to raise your kids as JWs will most definitely harm your kids, and they will one day resent the decision you made. If your kids respond to being raised as JWs as my siblings did, then you can also expect that your adult children will hate you and not want to have anything to do with you.

Question for Current or Former Elders (baptism of minors)
by Michelle365 ini have joint custody of my two children with my ex husband who is still raising the kids on his time as jws.
my 11 year old claims she is getting baptized at the next assembly.
i have heard that i can write a letter to the boe and say that i oppose her getting baptized before she is 18. is that true?

Michelle,
You need to speak with your family law attorney asap. Your divorce decree/judgment will be critical to the determination of this situation. Your attorney will advise you as to the availability and likelihood of success in filing a motion for a temporary restraining order/permanent injunction to prevent the imminent and irreparable harm that will most certainly result if your daughter is baptized.
Good luck!

<<<< Pish, the Mel Gibson epic was the authoritative source on the story of William Wallace. All other nonsense is a conspiracy of the Jews.>>>
Do you have any evidence to support your allegation that there is a "conspiracy of the Jews" to alter the historical account of the story of William Wallace?
Your comment appears to be anti-semitic, and it also appears to violate posting guideline no. 2, "Please avoid inciting hatred on the basis of race, religion, gender, nationality or sexuality or other personal characteristic."

Are you thankful to know TTAT or not?
by laverite ini am so thankful that i was able to learn the truth about the truthtm (ttatt).
i owe everything in my life to having left watchtower corp: my education, my position as a college professor, being able to write and publish, travel, family life, my beautiful children, being able to be openly gay -- and happy.
unlike those closeted homosexuals in the truthtm, i do not have to be afraid to be who i am.

I'm not thankful at all to know the truth about the truth. Rather, I wish I didn't know TTATT because I wish I had never been raised as a JW, which would have rendered such knowledge irrelevant to my life.
Being raised as a JW is akin to having your parents impose a disability upon you. The best they can do is pray that when you become an adult, you will forgive their tragic stupidity.

Really enjoyed the CONvention....why?
by punkofnice ini remember when i was a mind cleansed(tm) jw i would listen to the talks when i wasn't napping.. on the long tiring drive home i'd say how i ''enjoyed(tm)'' the sessions and felt ''encouraged(tm)''.. .....and yet i couldn't recall a single ''point(tm)'' made.
i couldn't remember what it was that actually made me feel good.. on one occasion i asked the family what they found ''encouraging(tm)'' or interesting.. tumble weed.
no examples.

"Converntions" were nothing more than WTBTS supported child abuse. I remember sitting in uncomfortable seating at Dodger Stadium, in July heat, listening to one meaningless talk after another. I would take a break every so often to go to the bathroom. On the way, in front of the restrooms, it was common to "witness" kids being beaten by mom, usually with belts or hairbrushes.
I hated every "convention" I attended. I used to look forward to them with as much happy anticipation as what I would expect a condemned inmate to feel with respect to his/her execution date.
Piss on the WTBTS for exploiting children and harming them in every way imaginable. Any parent who raises their kids in this cult is making a big mistake that they will pay dearly for in the future.

Shocking talk from 2013 District Convention urges parents to shun disfellowshipped children

First, a big thanks to Cedars for this great clip!!!!!
Now, on to the content. It made me nauseous listening to the programming session that the mentally enslaved were subjected to at the district convention. Life "isn't always rosy" when you're a Jehovah's Witness? He got that wrong. He should have said that life is NEVER rosy if you're unlucky/stupid enough to be part of this freak show.
As for the speaker, he is the human equivalent of raw sewage. I could not be in the same room with him. He stinks.

Do you remember your Baptism Talk?
by bildad indo you remember anything from your baptism talk or the brother who gave it?.
-

I never got baptized. Being a JW was not a choice for me. I was born in to this cult to parents who got to enjoy normal childhoods before imposing this freak lifestyle on their kids. I never had any interest in getting baptized or staying in this cult because I hated every minute I spent in it.
With all due respect, I can't imagine what, if anything, any of you were thinking as you voluntarily dedicated your lives to this cult. There are no drugs on this planet that are strong enough to sufficiently numb my brain to enable the making of such a bad decision.

What's Da Word On Weed, Mon?
by metatron ini come to this site as my one-stop-shopping guide to scandals and controversy within watchtowerland ( much of which is about as real as world of warcraft).
i'm surprized i haven't read anything about marijuana and 'the truth".. weed is getting legalized all over the place and california, in particular, is loaded with whacked-out witnesses.
since it can be prescribed as a medical treatment (here and there), i imagine the wts might have to do some doctrinal gymnastics to df folks for using it.

Satanus,
Demons love lawbreakers, which is why they only visit those wno take drugs without a prescription.

Scully,
Marijuana is likely to have a positive effect on anyone who is a JW. It might stimulate thought!
