I'm not sure if anyone has already posted this link or info on Deborah Frances White. I just wanted to share for anyone interested in hearing her experience. She also has some funny podcasts. Now that I'm 'awake' I can see how ridiculous the Jw teachings/doctrines must sound to others. On a side note-I'm hoping someday soon an ex JW who is popular in the media will make a documentary like Leah Reminis on Scientology. They can interview ex-bethelites, pioneers, elders etc. They can't all be lying right? (That's what my husband said about the Scientology series) Even though I doubt many Jdubs will watch as it would be considered apostate material. One can only hope.

Do you think I should get something for my wife for her birthday?
by schnell inmy wife is still nominally in, but only because it "makes me (her) happy".
there is nothing academic about her beliefs and when i try, she interprets me as negative.. but then she cusses like a sailor and watches certain movies with me.
her birthday is coming up and it's also right around valentine's day.

In my opinion I would definitively get her a gift. Being female I can tell you we LOVE getting gifts. No matter how big or small. It's usually the gesture that counts. And like others have mentioned, wrapping it nicely (if possible) is always a plus. (Bc we hardly get to unwrap gifts-if ever) Whether you want to say it's for her birthday is entirely up to you. Only you know if your wife would feel guilty/bad about it or not. I know she will appreciate the gesture no matter what you do!
Good luck! (Wait, I can say that now right?) ;)

Thank you soooo very much everyone for your responses. I am sitting here reading every single piece of advice and I really appreciate everyone's effort to help me. It really feels as if everyone here knows almost exactly how I'm feeling and what I'm going through. It's incredible to be able to get support from people I've never met who are willing to take time out of their busy lives to do so. It honestly means so much to me. I have spent every free minute reading the links that some of you have given me and it's been so helpful in making me feel like I'm on the right path. Thank you again everyone from the bottom of my heart. I may post a new thread to get your opinions on other subjects. Good night everyone!

I wish that were the case @Wingcommander & @Londo111. He has actually seen several Scientology documentaries. One with Louie Theroux which I haven't seen & another one I can't recall. While we were watching Reminis episodes he would make statements like "oh JWs are nothing like that & we are so different than them". I couldn't believe my ears! His blinders are on so tight that he can't see the smallest similarities. What I am going to try is get him to watch a few videos that have helped me. He is pretty open minded to watching almost anything. Thanks for the tips everybody. It's really hard to hold everything in, but like several of you have said, I have to make a plan. Now I wish I could change my username, I don't want to feel angry anymore.

Thank you for sharing all these tips. Lucky for me I have moved about 8 times the last 10 yrs, I don't even know where my ' publisher card' is. 😬 The hardest thing 4 me is keeping up the facade for my poor blinded active parents who mean well. Oh and now I have to try & act 'normal' for my husband as well..

Thank you so very much every single one of you for your kind and encouraging words. I could not reply for over 2 hrs for some reason. I really truly appreciate every single piece of advice I've been given. I will definitely get a start on the books that have been referred to me. I also appreciate those who shared your personal stories with me. I don't feel as alone in this any more.

Thank you @nicolaou. I still have so much research to do regarding so many topics like Armageddon, Heaven, the resurrection. Now I'm even doubting if I believe in the Bible, sounds crazy even saying it!

Thank you @schnell. I guess I have also been fading on & offfor the past 10 years without realizing it. It's definitely life changing realizing you've been lied to your entire life.

Hi everyone I don't even know where to begin. I recently saw Leah Remini's series on Scientology thanks to my husband (semi-active Jw) and I felt like my eyes were being opened for the 1st time in my adult life. I felt shaken almost sick to my stomach with each episode I watched. A bit about me: grew up a witness (age 5) elder dad, mom pioneer. I even pioneered a couple of yrs after high school. But I became inactive about 13 years ago. For the past few years (after marriage) I was trying to 'come back' but I always felt something was wrong. I didn't care for the mind mind numbing talks & mysoginistic views. I did some more digging & learned about the Australian child abuse cases along with so many other cases here in America, Canada, U.K, and so on. I am just blown away at how much I've learned these past few weeks. I want to tell (yell at top of my lungs) my husband, parents, close Jw friends what I've learned but I know how they will react. For those of you who grew up in the 90's or late 80's, you'll know that reading anything other than Jw info is 'so wrong' and you will be shunned as an apostate.
I'm sorry if I'm rambling but I honestly have no one I can talk to at the moment about this. I feel like I've lost 25-30 yrs of my life. Some days I feel like my head is going to explode from everything I've learned on this website among other helpful articles online. I really would appreciate any advice or feedback from anyone that went through or is going through this. My world has been turned upside down and I feel so lost. I have so many questions.
