my father died a couple of months ago.
he'd been ill for some time and had many health scares and heart troubles over the years but always managed to keep on going.
then one time he didn't.. i'm glad i got to know him again and spend some more time with him after so many years missed because of the wts but those years will always be lost forever.

I guess as long as you tip your cap to their authority, they don't care if you molest children, commit crimes or any number of things that they claim to abhor.-- That is something I cant wrap my head around.

Thank you for sharing, I find these very interesting. I also woke up trying to defend the org. From comparisons to other cults (Scientology) and the 'apostate lies' about the ARC. The more I researched the worse it got.

Thank you for sharing. I would also like to return to University so I can help ex-Jw's. Not many therapists (at least not here in US) are familiar with the JW cult. They think its just another religion and fail to see how traumatizing it can really be.

this job is not permanent, it will end in july, but finally i got rid of many doubts about my adequacy for this job: i love it!

Can I just add that back in early 2016 one random night after the meeting and elder came up to me saying he knows it must be hard being a female and if I had ever been sexually abused I had to forgive, pray & rely on Jehovah. Then he read me some scriptures from his bible. I was so stunned by his words I couldn't even respond. What do you even say to something like that? It was in the middle of the hall, anyone could have heard. This was a 70 year old man who never had a single conversation with me during my time in that KH. Talk about ODD! Turns out they told the same spiel to several other sisters in the hall. Sorry if I went off topic, just wanted to get that off my chest. I just wonder if that had anything to do with the ARC.

I lived in Australia from 2015-2017 and never heard of the ARC until Feb 2017 when i was visiting the U.S! But once my spouse showed me a video of it, (trying to defend the org) that was it for me. Within one month of countless research I knew I was done.
just had to share... a former friend of my wife's, has just left our house, unbeknown to us, her and her husband have been inactive for about a year and a half, they have pre teen boys too.
she reached out to my wife as she had heard that we were apostates etc and needed someone to talk to.. .
after her father dying she was in a bad place mentally and emotionally and reached out to her cong for support, apon receiving 0 she turned to the bible for comfort only in her raw emotional state to realize that jehovah was a murderous unfair god and then her wheels of rational reasoning started turning.. she questioned things and was outspoken about things and attracted elder attention... long story short she wanted to connect with a friendly ear and she splurged she's never going back, the bible is all bulls**t and it's a cult, despite not knowing most of ttatt we all shared experiences and watched her eyes boggle at (stuckinarut... the first euphoric high) the un scandal, beth sarim, ray franz, 607, arc.

Wingcommander- I got teary eyed reading your comment. I had a similar experience. The so called 'worldly people' showed more love & support than any of the JW's in my parents hall.

this is not the first time i've written about this, but with the royal commission happening here in australia, and having fought against the wts on this problem of molestation in the wts over a period of 15 years i feel a need to explain what i found which contradicts what the wts says and the way they handle cases within their society.. i am not going to give the history of my involvement but just state simply why no-one can believe what the wts says ,and we all know the scriptures they use to not handle cases of molestation properly , so here goes , it's not tricky or hard to understand i think, but just use the bible against them (hope this is used at the commission).. i,m using the revised berkely version in plain english here ,.
the context is law giving in the book of deuteronomy ch 22 : vs 22 - 27. vs 22 "when a man is surprised abed with a married woman,they shall both die ,the man who lay with the woman and the woman too; you shall wipe out the evil from israel.".
so this is easy to grasp ,man sleeps with married woman ,judged to die -they got caught.. next vs 23- 24 "when a man comes upon a girl in the city, who is a virgin betrothed to another , and he lies with her,24 you shall bring them both to the gate of the city and stone them to death, the girl because she did not cry out, although the city was all about her, and the man because he violated his neighbour's wife.
@Wozza im so sorry for what you went through, thank you for sharing a part of your story. My spouse and I were discussing this passage in Deut 22 recently & he defends the 2 witness rule. He says it was a direct individual law that would not need the 2 witness rule. And that the fact that it was specific in this case indicates that it didn't rely on the 2 witness rule. Um what?? How can they even apply this to child abuse victims? I get so frustrated trying to reason with him.
