This is truly a milestone and I'm sure there are many more to come. What you have done will benefit us all in one way or another and we are grateful for that.
Great stuff!
hi everyone.
as a parting gift to you all before i take a much needed break from this forum, i thought you would be pleased to know that the independent, a leading uk newspaper, will be publishing a piece on the "mentally diseased" watchtower article in tomorrow's edition.. i would like to thank everybody who has assisted the journalist, jerome taylor, in his investigation.. best wishes to all of you,.
cedars.

forgive me if this comes off as harsh,.
i've read & read many posts here mostly very negative.
alot of you have family that have shunned & continue to shun.
Bad idea. To follow one religion is to follow another. It's a lifestyle choice.
I'd rather go back to the Tower that join a splinter group.
did you ever encounter jw's who claimed to be able to "sense" when somthing "dodgy" read demon posscessed was in the room?.
i've got several jw relatives who reckon that jehovah protects them by allowing them to sense this... "i always had a funny feeling about that lump of coral!".
iteams they have thrown out ( and in one case also run over several times with a bicycle just in case there was any residual demons left in it) are :.
Oh my goodness!
Was that article written by JRR Tolkein of Lord of The Rings fame?
the jw answer to this is that there must have been some purpose for them that we don't yet understand.. but dinos were pretty violent, basic animals who killed without mercy.
i know not all of them but alot of them did.
the ones that were vegetarian ate huge masses of vegatation, how is that productive to the earth?.
It's obvious that God created dino's to give the Watchtower something to ruminate on and jigger up their plan of the ages.
i was reading an article about how men should not tuck in their shirts if the shirt is worn as casual wear.. i often wear suits with a black tee shirt, tucked in.
i have some great cabana style shirts that are always worn over the belt.
if i'm playing some sport, i would never tuck in a tee shirt.. i looked online after i read the article and it seems some are very firm on their position...... and while we're at it, should men wear a belt with jeans or with dress slacks?.
If anyone does manage to find the Kingdom Ministry article pertaining to this particular dilemma please post it here as I never tuck my shirt in and now I'm worried that I might spend eternity with a particular seven headed dragon/beast/devil type thing. You know, the one in the Revelation book that was supposed to scare us half way to kingdom come. The one with a hooker on top drinking a cocktail.
i'm usually a cognac drinker.
i love armagnac too.
and i enjoy a martini i invented---mandarin vodka with a slight bit, usually about a capful of chambord served in an ice cold martini glass.. this saturday i'm mixing with my gf's friends and family in conn. with some affluent people and i might want to try something different.
I want that bartender to drink!
Failing that I'll stick to my rum and coke.
Rum and coke it is then I guess.
I like the bartender idea though ;(

If it's any consolation high dose, I used to wrestle with my inner demons but we're now on the same side.
Sorry guys, I couldn't resist it. Just trying to lighten the tone.
Forgive me.
long story short, i have been a jw for the pst 7 years.
i am married with 2 kids.
hubby is a die hard jw who is an ms and would like to be elder.
Nevertheless, any inteligent person can out-wit them because they are embroiled in endless rules and red tape and can't make a single move of their own initiative.
Experience is a harsh mistress and I learned my lesson well. Once and for all time!
I treat them as I would mushrooms: Keep them in the dark and feed them on $#1t
so i am in my first semester of college, and i'm really enjoying it.
i am already tired since i work full time in addition to going to school full time, but i will get over that hump eventually.
anyway in my english 101 class our first essay due was to be a personal narrative, 4 pages(ish), in mla format using microsoft word.
This is great stuff.
Well done you. Keep at it!
when i was still serving as an elder in the late summer of 2006 in a congregation of jws in socal we received a letter from the "christian congregation of jehovah's witnesses" (read: the governing body) directing that anyone pursuing a higher education would be disqualified from privileges of service: elder, servant, pioneer, etc.
i remember this quite distinctly because i had just received by ba in education in june a few months before this.
in 2002, i had decided to pursue a degree under the society's then current "it's a personal decision" policy and was quite shocked at their drastic policy change.
This thread is interesting if not surprising.
In my old congregation our PO was encouraging all and sundry to go window cleaning and 'pioneer' while he was adamant that his two sons should attend college and enter the same profession as himself which they both did.
Such duplicity!
Just glad I never paid attention to the nonsense.
