i thought i knew a few things but it seems i was wrong.

i just stumbled upon the fact that there is no acts 8:37 in the nwt.

i can see why but i am curious how this has been justified to jws by the borg.

Shawn, I don't know the answer to your question, but in trying to find a quick answer, I discovered that the NIV also leaves that verse OUT of their text as well. NewLight2

For the record, I'm NOT Rick! I have never been a dub, but have studied the dub religion using counter-cult materials. I have been on dub boards since about 1997/98 and have learned much in that length of time.

Another for the record, I was raised a Baptist. My father was into counter-cult ministry so THAT is where I first got my interest in the JW's. I used to listen to my father 'argue' at the door with many dubs as well as Mormans.

JWD is a nice place for the doubting dubs to learn about the lies told to them by the FDS.

But it COULD be a better place if there were not so much bickering and deletion of whole threads just because 'some' here have seen fit to censor opinions.

hey gang, i have been searching for a way to dent my hubby's mindset on the theology of jws and came across two books by randy watters that i wondered if any of you had found useful.

"refuting jws" and "the truth will set you free".

if any of you have read these i'd appreciate some feedback from you before ordering them.

it's 7 a.m. here in the east coast, and so far i haven't seen any news on t.v.

about the "big news".

so, to make it easier to find, i thought we could use one thread to keep track of any news that comes out in the next few days.

My local library pays for access to many data bases and I could find none that came up with the Journal of Church and State listed within their data base. You guys have LOTS of work to do in submitting this journal to the major data bases!

It truly was BIG news . . . . . . but not for everyone.

i've been digesting the news since about 5am and i'll admit to having mixed feelings.

i think i need to explain some background and then what i have to say should make more sense.

i was 'raised in the truth' as were my 2 brothers and 2 sisters.

Just remember, this "Big News" is NOT limited to the issue of BLOOD. The same law can be applied to the 587/607 issue. And THAT issue strikes at the very CORE of the Watchtower Society's AUTHORITY over the cong/JW's. If the watchtower can be 'proven' in a court of law to have been deceptive in representing secular dates in order to gain members by claiming to be "God's ONLY true Organization on earth today", the WHOLE system falls like a heap of fallen bricks. If you take away the Watchtower's 'claim to fame', even those die-hards will begin to smell the coffee!

I don't understand the big news! can blondie or someone do an idiots guide?

please can someone summarise the big news or put it in plainer english?

i've rushed home from work anxious to hear it, read it and still don't understand the ramifications for the borg of this.

it could be because my head is spinning from work or i am just plain stupid....from what i've read the impact isn't going to have my family throwing down their watchtowers and realising they love me more, but hat was my own particular pie in the sky.. also how do we get it so that it comes up on google so that anyone wanting to know about jws and blood come to this news straight away.. dunce-crumpet.

Am I understanding this right that ANY MISQUOTE of secular sources made by the WTBS could be used as grounds to sue them if that MISREPRESENTATION of facts has led to mental, emotional, or physical damage to a person who has made poor choices due to the fact that the WT has misled them?

What about how the WT misquotes secular sources when trying to prove the 607BCE date as grounds for them being God's ONLY channel of communication on earth?

Without believing this foundation doctrine, many would not have become JW's in the first place, thereby avoiding all the pain and suffering that lay ahead for them.

OR

How about the many misquotes of secular sources in the "Trinity" booklet?
