Amazing,
Sounds like you have just outlined a career path for an overzealous bethel heavy.
i just realized that the annointed won't die off.
i mean, the original annointed will die off within the next 10 years or so, but then there are the younger people that think they are annointed, but don't fall under the rules and guidelines of an annointed person (per jw).
i personally don't believe in the annointed, but something struck my fancy at the memorial.

The society will be forced to re-explain the whole concept of the anointed when the governing body dies off and they no longer have "anointed" as figureheads in the organization.
Since the anointed are the composite body of the "faithful and discreet slave" they will no longer be able to say that the FDS is leading the organization. At that time they will change the description of the FDS to mean the elder arrangement and no longer publish the number of "partakers" for the memorial. Just a prediction.
when you were an elder what sucked most....conducting the schoolconducting the book studyconducting the wt study (having to listen to sister know it all answer over and over...)giving public talks (trying to squeeze sense out of a one page summary of total crap)being an attendant at assembliesbeing food/cleaning/work overseer at assemblies & quickbuildsauditing the finances/paying in contributions at the banktaking the lead in unassigned territory serviceshepherding calls !!!!!
omg !!!!
!jc'sget togethers and having to pray !praying at the khserving the emblemsgiving counsel at the school/weaklings/youth(e.g young sisters wearing mini skirts & makeup)being always positive about the "new light" and the gb.training young msworking with the circuit overseer when he visited (on saturday afternoons)giving a "special needs talk"never being able to fart, swear or loose your tempercompelled to having missionary sex, not enjoy it and never discuss it..even with your wife, just incase it may be immoralnever seeing any good movieshaving one beer a fortnight .
I will just comment on a few of these. I was an elder for three and a half years, and a MS for approx 15 years.
Conducting the Book Study
I hated it.
Giving Public Talks (trying to squeeze sense out of a one page summary of total crap)
I had several outlines that just about sounded the same. This meant that I could give basically the same talk when I was out of town no matter what outline the congregation assigned. I could usually schedule a talk about every six weeks. Out of town speakers could generally expect to get a free meal
Being an Attendant at Assemblies
Some how I missed that "privilege"
Being food/cleaning/work overseer at Assemblies & quickbuilds
See above
Auditing the Finances/paying in contributions at the bank
Usually had no problem with either. I was the account servant for many-many years and was pretty good at it. The tellers at the bank were cute.
Taking the lead in unassigned territory service
I avoided at all cost taking the lead
Shepherding calls !!!!! OMG !!!!!
Hated these
JC's
The worst
Serving the Emblems
Generally not much of a hassle
Giving counsel at the school/weaklings/youth(e.g young sisters wearing mini skirts & makeup)
I was not much for giving counsel.
Being always positive about the "New Light" and the GB.
Tried to always avoid conversations about the "truth"
well i went last night...........did anyone else notice how the talk focused almost exclusively on the 144,000???
jesus was barely mentioned.
the first couple of minutes talked about when the israelites left egypt and the passover was instituted.
I attended the memorial. As usual, the message of the talk was "we are passing this stuff around but you better damn well not eat or drink any of it."
A comment at the end really bothered me. The speaker read the scripture about Jesus being able to summons legions of angels. He then went into depth about how a single angel can kill 180,000 people and that based upon that calculation the angels could kill 20 billion people. I think he really enjoyed making the point. This falls in line with the theme of the bible that is adopted by the wt (and many other religions): Jesus died so that he could kill 99.9 percent of the population at Armageddon…..Somehow I don't think that was Jesus' message.
i received news from an elder i know in another congregation.
he told me that things are changing in the way that bethel is running its operations.. i was informed that bethel no longer makes its own ink, but buys it from other companies.. even in the bethel kitchens, there is no more watchtower chicken - meat is bought from outside, this i believe also goes for milk and dairy products too.. can anyone confirm this?
i have reason to believe it is probably true.. i wonder what would happen if the wt suppliers go out of business?
We took some friends on a Bethel factory tour last fall, around October. They had just discontinued the ink making the week before we arrived. The sis who gave us the tour showed us around where they used to make the ink and gave use the update of how much they used to make and why the discontinued the project. So, I can confirm that rumor.
They discontinued the 'farm' several years ago. I believe that is common knowledge.
i feel guilty that i don't give a hoot about anything that i believed in over the last 4 decades.......what are you feeling guilty over??
?
I try not to feel guilty about anything. Guilt is a destructive emotion that was a way of life for me from the time I was a small boy to the the point in time when I decided enough is enough.
it's so hard to choose, but i would have to say the theocratic ministry school was my most hated meeting.
the first few talks were a rephrasing of mind-numbing society doctrine.
then it was time to listen to a ten-year old read nwt to us........... #3 talks, don't even get me started!
My least favorite was the WT study. The first thing I did was to see how many paragraphs there were. But even where there were less than 20, the conductor always found a way to drag the information to the maximum.
Elders meetings were a drag, especially if they were after sitting through two hours of talks. However, the worst was when the CO was in town. He always had a prepared talk for the elders. So, besides the crap we had to endure we also had to listen to another talk......man I don't miss those days.
at the circuit assembly, my mother mentioned to me that the society is warning of a new danger.
there are witnesses that are on the internet reading apostate things but are still members of the congregation.
they are slowly being infiltrated by the 'apostates' and are still amongst us.
I am convinced that there are many in the congregation that visit this site. While I am no longer a publisher I attend a few meetings and am considered an apostate; I am a regular visitor to this site.
I would love to talk to my fellow r&f about this site. But how can I start a conversation without exposing myself as a JWD member? I would like to propose that we develop some sort of no descript code word that we can insert into our post-meeting conversations . The code word need to be so non-descript that a non JWD won't notice but such that if we are talking to a fellow JWD member we will both know.
Any suggestions?
a favorite watchtower quote has to be psalms 110:3 "your people will offer themselves willingly on the day of your military force.
" however, the way the field service reporting system works is based on hounding the brothers and sisters to fill in their report slips.
miss a month and you are bound to get a call from your book study conductor asking you why you haven't reported.
The point that you have brought up is a core issue. There are valid reasons why the society is interested in the number of field service hours and literature placed. These reasons include measuring the effectiveness of the activity and determining production levels of literature. In this case the society would be better off to allow anonymous reporting because this is the only way to get full honesty.
However these valid reasons go away when the society uses "turning in your time" as a coercive tool to manage the r&f. As a coercive tool the society has created a whole culture where the r&f learn to manage their time to keep the elders off their back.
having left 18 months ago .
i still feel a spiritual need in the way that i do beleive there is a creator and after having done a lot of research on bible arecheaology i beleive the bible is correct.
however we have been taught so much dogma amongst christianity have any of you got to the point yet of going to any other religious meeting.
I cannot visualize any circumstance where I would go to a church. Absoultly Not! No Way! I have no interest in anything that has to do with religion...with the exception of reading this post.
