Name changes give the faithful the opportunity to judge individuals as to whether they are keeping up with jehovah's chariot. If you hear someone using outdated language you know they are not spiritually minded.

The purpose of changing JW names, titles and terms
by gingerbread induring a discussion over the weekend, we exchanged ideas about recent changes in terminology related to assembly days, conventions and new titles for the higher-ups.
i commented that for years in 'security' at larger meetings we were told to talk to any that seemed out of place and ask questions that would indicate if they were apostates - antiquated terms like 'overseer' or a reference the 'truth' book.. another in our group brought up the character in the orwell book 1984 and how his job was to separate new and approved terms from old words.
this was called doublethink and blackwhite.

JW.Org
by Kool Jo ini've been pondering......with this new "push" to direct individuals to thw jw.org website, even when the dubs are out preaching...what do you think the future will be for the preaching work?.
some time ago i read that the mormons have implemented a live chat feature that allows you to speak with their missionaries....i doubt the borg would do this, but i think they have something up their sleeves.. peace.

there is a world of information available on the internet. I wonder how they are able to keep the r&f away from TTATT available on the internet, let alone the public who has no problem with looking at different sites.

How often do you see the Witnesses out on the ministry?
by rory-ks ini only ask because i hardly ever see them out on the ministry.
it is a very rare sighting to spot them actively engaged in the house to house ministry.
or out on the street work, in the marketplace, etc.. the other reason i ask is because they are constantly pictured as being on the preaching work.

They are all over the place here in Manhattan with their stupid carts. They look bored but it is easy time counting. And, isnt that all that matters?

They have identified their target market. As opposed to catering to vegetarians, it sounds like this restaurant caters to humanitarians.

Great thread from the past. I checked and did not post so this is not a repeat.
My greatest "privileges" were I once gave one of the prayers, I think for the bread, at the memorial and I also gave a personal experience at a district assembly. In this experience I was able to include a eulogy for my mother. Not sure if that is what they wanted, but they got it.
In regards to the comment from Safe at Home, I also cleaned bathrooms, while I agree that men are pigs, I also found the women's restroom quite disgusting.

It is not unusual for me to have a glass of French red wine while reviewing posts and commenting. But alas, my glass is empty now.

Grant funding is a wonderful revenue stream. I think we will all be surprised as to the national and international grants the society have requested and have been granted.

Pioneering: How the GB shamelessly capitalizes on members' worldly desire for prominence.
by Island Man inthe bible likens the preaching work to a sacrifice of praise - praise to god.
pioneering is also a sacrifice that involves praise.
it's the sacrifice of a specified number of hours that wins you the praise of men.. when you really analyze the psychology of pioneering it is apparent that the praise of men or prominence before men is at the heart of it.

They have to sell pioneering in some way, because the actual day to day activity of a pioneer is a dreadful way of life.
