I have had a few, but my last was my last meeting where the CO stated: "we don't think we have the truth - we KNOW we have the truth."
That was it - I was out of there like a bat out of hell.
it was a long time coming for me.....when i read about the extened generations, after being raised on1914 being the be all end all, and millions would never die....that was the end.
i was part of the 1975 fiasco, the 6 month only truth book studies, suffered through a disifellowshipping and their version of a rewind.
i finally am free and hope others can eventually look in instead of inside looking out!

is it true there is a 10 year rule?
i was reading on here when i saw someone quote it?
i've never heard of it before!.
I am aware of a few situations where a df individual floated back into the organization and were welcomed with opened arms.
The key is to cover your trail. But the question is WHY?
if we have faith in science and scientific claims about the universe, origins of life etc.
is that absolute truth.
if so then if they declare that god exists with evidence then do all those who believe in science then believe in god or a creator.
ADCMS, thank you for calling a foul. There has got to be rules to these discussions.
Fouls are acts committed by players which are considered deemed by the referee to be unfair and are subsequently penalized. I here by designate you, ADCMS, the referee of this thread.
is atheism a belief system.
after all the atheist believes there is no god .so if that's the case then an atheist if a person of faith.
they have faith in the fact there is no god.
I believe in myself. Other than that you can all go to hell! I mean that in the nicest way.
That being said, the whole concept of a belief system (i.e. the watchtower) is something that I have no interest in.
i just compared the latest data provided by the german wt and data i found searching for the same page in archive.org.
congregations 2011: 2232. congregations 2014: 2210. kh 2011: 1075. kh 2014: 1034. source: http://www.jehovaszeugen.de/statistik.18.0.html - this is a oficial site for germany.
.
Consider where growth is and where decreases occur. Free access to information kills the watchtower. Perhaps our goal should be to create access to all countries and languages.

I agree gjnat, it appears the the some are not using the capacity of critical thinking. With critical thinking I think our guest could come up with a better question.
robert j ingersoll on the great voltaire:.
"it has been claimed by the christian critics that voltaire was irreverent; that he examined sacred things without solemnity; that he refused to remove his shoes in the presence of the burning bush; that he smiled at the geology of moses, the astronomical ideas of joshua, and that the biography of jonah filled him with laughter.
they say that these stories, these sacred impossibilities, these inspired falsehoods, should be read and studied with a believing mind in humbleness of spirit; that they should be examined prayerfully, asking god at the same time to give us strength to triumph over the conclusions of our reason.
humor is a good thing. I agree

There is a research process, and it is quite simple. Identify a question - frame the question from a theoretical framework - from this question create hypotheses, and then test.
There is nothing mysterious about the process. Scientists create questions that have nothing to do with god, but it is still research.
In general results simply build on prior research. Rarely is there new light related to research. But that is ok, this is the process of scientific discovery.

There is nothing wrong - within reason.
Some of the stuff coming out of the society is funny and worthy of a few major pokes. I say bring it on. Just don't do anything that would upset your mother.

Who are "they" you speak about? Are scientists with white lab coats sitting in a room making pronouncements as a unified voice? Of course not. Your premise is wrong.
Science is a broad endeavor and it is a journey, not a destination. There will always be more to learn there will always be more truths to uncover.
Hopefully individual scientists are spending time creating a better world instead of making claims related to this god you speak of.
