I was a born in. After I was baptized I discovered that this was all a real scam. But My parents told me that as long as I lived under their roof, I had to fake it to make it. This was not my true self. Come to find out there are many of us.

Can you list the positive points of being a JW as against the negative points of being a JW in your experience ?
by smiddy3 ini was a twenty y/old when i converted to the jw religion and was a problem drinker and i was a chain smoker .when i was baptized at a circuit assembly a year later , my conversion and change in lifestyle was given as an example of the effectiveness of incidental witnessing to the audience.. so i can point to the 2 positives becoming a jw .. 1.i gave up smoking.
2.i gave up drinking for a while ,but because i still had association with my wife`s and my family who were not jw`s ,i learnt to control my social drinking when i started again.. and i have been a responsible drinker ever since ,even though i left the religion 29 years ago.. the negative points of being a jw in my 32 years of being one ?
are far too great to list here .. love to hear your thoughts..

Longhairgal- When I was in Depression was my most challenging demon to deal with. With the encouragement to do more for the Organization instead of getting professional help with Depression, there was alot of self medication with drink and prescription drugs to deal with depression. After, I faded and got professional help my self medicating stopped and so did the drinking. Watchtower has no clue on how to deal with depression and should not be giving advice.

What are Jehovah's Witnesses' stance on home ownership?
by timothytha inwhat do people usually think of when they buy a house?
"i will probably live here for a long time" (you're invested with your time), "i will save money by building equity over time".
(you've invested in yourself financially for the long run) of course, i wouldn't be able to list the numerous reasons why people want to buy a house.

I was told that since I'm a"Brother" (even though I have faded) and have a large real estate portfolio. I should rent my properties to my fellow brothers in the "Truth". What at a Theocratic Discount Rate!?! I don't think so. I have rented to Jw's and have some bad experiences with the whole thing. Some good, some bad. But the worst is when they want cheap rent don't pay, expect alot.

Watchtower sure wants you to donate your property to them when you die.

Pimo's walking out
by Foolednomore inis it possible that jw's would get so worn out by watchtower 's bullshit that they would stand up gather their stuff and walk out of a meeting or a convention.
i can see a small number doing it..

In my youth years, my mother wanted me to pioneer, so I did. I came into the hall while the conductor was having the service meeting. I was rudely told to shut up and sit down. I just walked in with out making a sound. I cut my day short that day and didn't continue any activity after that.

I have suits only for business or wedding or other events. But no more meetings. Feels good to be free.

As debris was falling from the sky me and another person went to the Jw HQ for shelter. They would not even open the door. Not even for their own. This was the start of collection of red flags for me. My business partner who was with me was shocked by how Jw HQ treated their own members. We found the help we need in a near by hotel. To this day when I travel to New York. This business gets my business.

What did it for me was at a Sunday meeting the speaker was going on and on about how generous Jw's are, Yeah, right!?! He gave the example that when the plane crashed into the World Trade Center that the Watchtower HQ opened their lobby and provided assistance. I call Bullshit! They locked all their doors and hide under the bed. They where no where to be found. I was there all building where opened except them.
