For awhile I use to run the sound at the meeting. Sound board, music and mics. I ran it all. One day the head elder took the whole thing away, No reason at all. It was hard enough to get young men in the congregation to do anything. So one Watchtower study after the paragraph was read and the question was asked, there was no one working the mics. I walked past it to use the restroom and step outside. You think they asked for it

Were any congregation '' special privileges'' ever taken away from you?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inif you don't measure up to the watchtower society ''high standards''... you might lose some ''special privileges'' .
miss meetings...lose ''privileges''.
don't meet the monthly 10 hour ''field service'' ...lose ''privileges''.

Exes: Would You Rat On A Current JW?
by NotFormer init's an interesting thought.
if you are an ex jw, presumably dfed, and you see a current jw in good standing engaging in behaviour that would concern their elders, would you pass on that information to interested parties?
do accusations from exes and other outsiders carry any weight?

NotFormer- I told them by name who it was. And it was all bullshit.

When I was younger I was walking home from school and Elderette saw me with some beef jerky in my mouth like a cigar. The next meeting I'm in the back room with 3 elders accused of smoking. North Korea living as a Jw.

I would contact the police on a crime. But Ratting on Jw, No way. Elders need to do that.

Retirement savings
by TxNVSue2023 inwhat's the current jw stance on retirement savings?
i know it changed.
pre1975 it was an attitude of "don't worry about retirement, this system is ending soon".

I had humble beginning. Especially from a group who has a contempt for learning and personal growth (college education). I spend my time reading books on financial matters and investing. And I still read. I tell a fellow Jw instead of studying Watchtower 's empty promises, why not read about investing or starting a business. Watchtower has No useful information! -

by Fisherman injw view gambling as a sin and sadly people get addicted to gambling causing them financial and health problems.
but is playing a couple of bucks a week on some lottery tickets actually gambling?

Speaking of stocks, an elder told me that since I'm doing so well. I should give my money to the Borg. I told him that since the borg is having money issues, they should hire me to clean their financial house. I'll get their books in order.

The 1975 thing is a big deal! It is a great look at how Watchtower operates. Then denies everything. Wash, Rinse, repeat. Follow the pattern.

I know of many who where into that 1975 nonsense who sold everything or didn't plan for the future and now their kids are taking care of them because they have not a pot to piss in. I'm glad my parents were smart and didn't fall for this crap.

Sagely advice of a CO
by Vidqun in“a circuit overseer started out by saying that on this last round of the circuit, the one thing he noticed the most...is that everyone is physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually drained...and that cuts across all barriers and demographics within the truth.
he then said that the one common thread that ran among nearly everyone was this: we feel guilty for feeling bad.
he said because we are told to endure with joy, our minds can cause us to feel enormous guilt over feeling this way...and then, my dear brothers and sisters...he proceeded to blow our collective minds.. he asked us to turn to daniel 8:27….

One time my wife asked me Do you really want to live forever with these gossiping, self-righteous arrogant people? The answer is no not really.
