The Great "Dumbing Down"?
by NotFormer ina few old timers on here often refer to the dumbing down of the jw organisation.
what examples can you think of from over the years?
(i ask as an interested outsider who was never in).

Two biggest issues for Watchtower right now
by Teddnzo inselena accused tony morris of being involved in child abuse and the pimo bethelite who just got kicked out.
let’s see how this rolls out.

Never mind about really serving God. The bottom line, money. Money is Watchtower 's great motivator. That's all they care about.

How many people thought about suicide after they were disfellowshipped
by Lee Marsh ini know i was suicidal before i was disfellowshipped.
and it got worse after i left.
one night a friend told me that he went home the night before and wasn't sure if he would ever hear from me again.

The Whole Jw thing is toxic. When you leave or get kicked out, you need to detox right away. Talk to a good worldly friend or someone in mental health. This group is very dangerous.

Goodbye Mother
by punkofnice inso my mother passed on 20 aug 23 from the big c. i was there when she went.
that was indeed very traumatic.
i won't go to describe it.. dad went 17 years ago so there's just me now.

Punkofnice- Sorry for your lost. I had to experience the Jw sales pitch for my father's funeral. At the time I was with my " Worldly" relatives and friends and found them more loving then the Jw's.

Exes: Would You Rat On A Current JW?
by NotFormer init's an interesting thought.
if you are an ex jw, presumably dfed, and you see a current jw in good standing engaging in behaviour that would concern their elders, would you pass on that information to interested parties?
do accusations from exes and other outsiders carry any weight?

Biahi- Just loved the self righteous dumbasses that where in the congregation that create so much gossip and trouble. But no worries now. I leave those toxic people behind me.

Retirement savings
by TxNVSue2023 inwhat's the current jw stance on retirement savings?
i know it changed.
pre1975 it was an attitude of "don't worry about retirement, this system is ending soon".

I know a brother who was ( not to change the subject, but related.) Who learned he had cancer. Instead of following Doctor's advice on treatment which would had him live alittle long, but instead he spend his time doing Jw stuff. Stopped his high paying job to peddle a dream. His poor wife had to float the bills. Pretty Ridiculous!

Were any congregation '' special privileges'' ever taken away from you?
by RULES & REGULATIONS inif you don't measure up to the watchtower society ''high standards''... you might lose some ''special privileges'' .
miss meetings...lose ''privileges''.
don't meet the monthly 10 hour ''field service'' ...lose ''privileges''.

Privileges, more like free labour. I got to the point where I would just sit through those boring meetings and roll my eyes up into my head. And once it was over I would just leave. Waste of time.
