Splitting furs
by Jofi_Wofo ini'm half listening in on my wife's zoom meeting.
in my decade+ in the org, i don't remember ever getting into such minutia about jw hunting rules.. apparently, it's ok to kill an animal to use its skin as a clothing accessory, but it's not ok to kill an animal to use its antlers as a wall decoration.. not mentioned in the talk: whether or not its ok to kill an animal to wear its antlers as a hat.. .

I guess the WT's own Awake magazine must be lying then: Quote edited to make the point.
*** g 6/08 p. 11 When Is Self-Defense Justified? ***
When You Are ThreatenedThat was a good article. At the time, i thought it left things open to the conscience of the individual. But, then they wrote the July 2017 QFR which in part says
How a Christian chooses to protect himself, his family, or his possessions is, of course, largely a personal matter, as is his choice of employment. That said, Bible principles reflect God’s wisdom and his love for us. Out of regard for those principles, spiritually mature Christians choose not to keep a firearm for protection against other humans. They know that true and lasting security comes to those who demonstrate trust in God by living in harmony with Bible principles.—Ps. 97:10; Prov. 1:33; 2:6, 7.
As for me and my household, we choose our guns.

by joey jojo inim not here to start a debate.. ive heard the above expression countless time over the past year and a half and genuinely want to know what it means.. if you feel this way, do you mean :.

a. There is no covid19 virus? Covid DOES exist
b. Covid19 is real but not a threat of any kind? Covid is a threat to a small part of the population, not humanity overall.
c. Covid19 is a government conspiracy? Never let a good disaster go to waste. Gov Covid response is a conspiracty
d. All the extra dead people died from natural causes, or something other than covid19? After March / April of 2020 total global deaths returned to pre-covid levels. There have been few "excess deaths" since then.
e. Covid19 is real and a health risk- but not worth worrying about? Definitely not worth worry about. Definitely not worth shutting down the world economy for. Definitely not worth moving towards a socialistic government system
The data already exists. The Delta variant is no more lethal than the flu.
On June 18, Public Health England published its 16th report on "SARS-CoV-2 variants of concern and variants under investigation in England," this time grouping the variants by Greek letters.
As you can see, the Delta variant has a 0.1% case fatality rate (CFR) out of 31,132 Delta sequence infections confirmed by investigators. That is the same rate as the flu and is much lower than the CFR for the ancestral strain or any of the other variants. And as we know, the CFR is always higher than the infection fatality rate (IFR), because many of the mildest and asymptomatic infections go undocumented, while the confirmed cases tend to have a bias toward those who are more evidently symptomatic.
PCR test that use a Cycle rate of more than 30(/) amplify genetic material in your sinus far beyond what you actually have. Positive test result from healthy people. See NY Times article on this subject.

But by so doing the WT corporations now have a degree, at least legally, of independence from the governing body.
If you are a member of a Congregation corporation, the minute you cease to meet the criteria set in the by-laws, you lose your membership in the congregation and lose your position as an Officer, etc. The same thing here- the minute a WT corporation member / officer steps out of line; they are disciplined and removed, either defacto or procedurally. There is no real autonomy.

The Governing Body like todays Democraps
by mickbobcat inthe governing body is a lot like today's dems.
they want to keep the rank and file in a permanent dependent state.
keep them stupid and dependent and they can rule them forever.

I agree -
Infantilization. No one can make decisions- they must wait for directives. Once directives are issued they are draconian- no nuance. Must be applied to all people and situations. No room for personal circumstances, variation let alone debate or a different point of view.

🙄 pioneered, CO, DO, turned down for GB, now mooching and living off saved green handshakes, and am important moderator. HOW IS THAT?
I want to hear more about this? "turned down for GB" Are you for real?
It's been good, but I should have been an architect or engineer if not for this damn cult. I shake my head at how my parents refused to help me with financial aide (sign for loans) even though I'd been accepted to Temple, Drexel, and Penn State.
Architecture is art and artist generally starve. You did well to go into the other side of things. Voice of experience talking

in a legal sense, here in the US, petty theft varies by State, but could be up to $750.
Seem like enough-- per person, per day, for a weekend in Vegas.

Do You Tip At Eateries?
by minimus inif you go to a restaurant, do you tip and typically how much?
if you were given a 90 minute time frame to eat at a restaurant, would that restriction limit your tipping to the waitress or waiter?.
also if you order a coffee and donut and pick it up, do you contribute to the “tip jar” that’s on the counter?

Hopefully someone from the U.S., or anywhere else that tipping is customary can answer my question.
Why do you have to tip?
If the restaurant owner is charging you full price for a meal and NOT paying his staff properly- why is it the responsibility of the patron to make up the difference? If the owner was offering some reasonable discount on the food and drink, then maybe thats different.
Maybe if the owner paid his staff more, they would always have an incentive to provide good service regardless
How is it that people don't know this?
Restaurant servers and bartenders are paid a lower hourly wage. Lower than standard minimum wage. This is codified in law. For many parts of the country, this wage is between $2.50 - $5.00 per hour. It is not a decision by restaurant owner who are "cheapskates".
Tipping is the primary source of wages for these people, who according to the BLS earn on average $10-16 / hour. Tip your server people, whether you like it or not. Dining out in the US requires it.
