hi, all--i was just wondering, since there is emphasis on counting your witnessing hours in the jws, if they indeed count their time here and in other chat forums?
i happened to check the jws own chat forum, and it is closed to non-members.
i thought that it was interesting that they are free to come here, but we are not free to go there to discuss the bible.

The JW's don't have an official forum, you've no doubt found a group that have set one up despite the organisation's counselling not to do so.
Don't expect to get an honest debate on any forum (including this one) with anyone still calling themselves a Jehovah's Witness. Most fundamentalist Christians are the same.

Duran. I try as hard as I can to demonstrate how harmful religious belief is to humanity. How it desensitizes people and corrupts their moral perception.
I try to demonstrate the superiority of reason over dogma and how an atheistic or humanist approach to life is far more enriching and, frankly, loving.
But try as hard as I can I'll never turn as many people away from the God of the Bible as you will.

The story of Job is fascinating. It's the only account in the Bible where the devil kills anyone, in this case it's Job's ten children.
It's interesting because he couldn't actually touch them at all as God was protecting Job, his family and his possessions. They only became vulnerable when God accepted a bet with the devil and removed his protection.
God gave Satan a gun and Satan went a shootin'.
Imagine a family in the Witness Protection Scheme. If a police officer was persuaded by the family's aggressor to reveal the address of the safehouse what consequences would he face?
God on the other hand gets a free pass from unthinking, fundamentalists on this forum for behaving like an arsehole.

The narrator is good although why he's presenting it as a podcast with each episode being one chapter rather than as a straight audiobook is beyond me.

The fact that God doesn't align with what you believe God should be does not mean he doesn't exist.
This is true. It's also irrelevant to the discussion we're having. By all means, let's assume God exists.
Why doesn't he lift a finger to protect rape victims and abused children? Even I with my "limited comprehension of reality as a human being" can see that that isn't right.
