Here is why, even though I no longer agree with most of what the GB/WT/JW's teach, I still feel especially close to all of us who were apart of this group. Born in or converted. We all have had the same life experience of being raised in a over bearing mind controlling cult. The Watchtower has gone WAY beyond what is written. I know many have lost faith in God all together and I can understand why.

When I am on a forum like this I feel I am with my family. Am I crazy for feeling this way? Do you feel that way too? I love the humor and jokes and I relate to most of them. I believe many of us have developed a heightened sense of humor to combat all of the sadness we have lived through.

We are not "mentally diseased" people like the recent 9/11 Watchtower calls us, we ALL have been mentally abused. Is it any wonder many do not want to have anything to do with God anymore? These were "Gods representatives" to us for years.

So how do you feel about this question? Do you feel a special relationship with X-JW's and maybe even lost believing JW's? I ache for my family with tears often. I am carrying a heavy load of pain and heart ache as many of you are I am sure. Sometimes to the point, well... I don't want to say it...

But I want to say this, I love each and every one of you and I still feel like you are my brothers and sisters wether you do or not. I believe many of you feel the same way.

we talk about religion some times and i tell her i am christian and leave it at that.

i agreed to meet with him this tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. edt.

he asked me to pick the chapter where i wanted to start.. hmmmmm... where shall i start?

Thank you garyneal and everyone else for all of your posts! I have really enjoyed reading this thread. I admire what you are doing and the time you are taking with this "hero". I realize he most likely will never come around but now you have him in a position where you can make a strong point that he never will forget. like the one person said, you can't cut a tree down buy cutting the leaves. You have been doing that in my opinion but soon you should go for the trunk.

What really is sad in this case is your wife must be very joyful that you are studying with this person. She thinks your eternal life is being saved. As the "hero" put it, "you will become a witness." (or something like that) No doubt he has told her that too. The longer this goes on, the more hurt your wife will be when you don't drink the Kool-Aid. I commend you for what you are doing. The only hope I have for some of my family is that someone like you will take the time to do this for them.

So, how do you chop the tree down? There are many ways but my favorite is to share Isaiah 44: 25-26, "I am frustrating the signs of the empty talkers, and I am the One that makes diviners themselves act crazily; the One turning wise men backwards, and the One that turns even their knowledge into foolishness; the One making the word of his servant come true, and the One that carries out completely the counsel of his own messengers."

Then ask, "Has Jehovah made any words of the Jehovah Witnesses come true? Has he carried out completely the counsel of the messengers known as Jehovah's Witnesses?" The answer to that question is NO he has not. ALL of their predictions have proved them to be "empty talkers" and their knowledge has proved to be "foolishness."

I would do this in front of my wife if at all possible. However, only you know how your wife will react so think about that one first. But you need to become firm at this point with this man. You need to let him know that you strongly feel the Bible proves JW's are false messengers and false prophets! God has not made ONE WORD of theirs come true! NOT ONE! Don't let him pull 1914 on you. They predicted Armageddon would come in 1914. Has he once pointed you to Christ Jesus or is he pointing you to the ORG/GB? you know the answer to that.

This is only my opinion, you know your situation best. Sometimes a good shock will shake a person. I think you need to shock him. They cannot answer Isaiah 44: 25-26. The Watchtower hardy ever quotes it. Is it any wonder?

What you are dealing with is a programed robot who is trying to lead you to obey and follow MAN not Christ. Jesus is the way truth and the life. I hope you do believe that. If you do, you could tell him your hope is to live in heaven with Christ then see how he tries to shut that TRUE Christian hope down.

I would record this if I were you then you could play it for your wife latter if she doesn't sit in. Us too

Just why would god create dinos??

the jw answer to this is that there must have been some purpose for them that we don't yet understand.. but dinos were pretty violent, basic animals who killed without mercy.

i know not all of them but alot of them did.

the ones that were vegetarian ate huge masses of vegatation, how is that productive to the earth?.

I believe their is enough scientific evidence regarding the benefits we now receive from

dinosaurs isn't there? Maybe not, I thought there was...

I wonder about mosquitoes and things like that more myself...

There is not a definitive yes or no to this, but it seems as though the Bible does mention dinosaurs. In Job 40:15-24 there is a description of a fearsome creature.

Behold now, Behemoth, which I made as well as you. He eats grass like an ox. 16 Behold now, his strength in his loins, and his power in the muscles of his belly. 17 He bends his tail like a cedar. The sinews of his thighs are knit together . 18 His bones are tubes of bronze. His limbs are like bars of iron. 19 He is the first of the ways of God. Let his maker bring near his sword. 20 Surely the mountains bring him food and all the beasts of the field play there. 21 Under the lotus plants he lies down, in the covert of the reeds and the marsh. 22 The lotus plants cover him with shade. The willows of the brook surround him. 23 If a river rages, he is not alarmed. He is confident, though the Jordan rushes to his mouth. 24 Can anyone capture him when he is on watch, with barbs can anyone pierce his nose?

Some have said that this might be a hippopotamus or even an elephant. But, it speaks of the power and the muscles of his belly (v. 16) and that his tail is like a cedar tree, which is huge (v. 17). This would not support a hippopotamus or elephant explanation. A crocodile has also been considered, but it doesn't eat grass (v. 15). So, no one knows for sure what it is, but whatever it is, it's formidable. Could it be a dinosaur?
