  Elder wants to stop by with the CO for a visit .

  so i got a text from an elder who i consider one of the good guys and a friend in his own way.. he asked if he could bring the co by for a visit.

  he said it would be "just a pleasant call and visit and will hopefully encourage my wife".

  he says that "he knows she is dealing with a ton of pressure".. in all my years around the organization, i never had a visit from the circuit overseer.

  So after all this I finally told her.

  I asked if she had ever had a visit from the CO? She said no and I could tell she was kind of nervous about the whole thing.

  Anyway, as it turns out, we are busy on the day in question.

  I think she was actually relieved that we are indisposed on that day.

  I haven't texted the elder back yet. Waiting as long as possible so all available time slots are filled so he can't try to reschedule :-)

  Gonna say something to the effect, "thanks for the thought but we are busy on ___day. Hope you are well."

  Since you go with her to the meetings they may consider you a 'soft' target and one that can be brought back as a publisher which will make both of them look good.

  But seriously, what bad can result? I mean, what are they gonna do DF me? For nothing? Go ahead!

  Why the sudden interest in you do you think?

  Kind of what I am wondering. I think my wife's FS might be down a bit. that's all I can think of.

  I would but I think my wife would be appalled. I haven't told her about the text yet.

  I am inactive (Have been for years) although I go with my wife to the meetings.
  I suppose I could tell the elder no but I would assume that would fly like a lead balloon.

  not sure if this has been commented on, but while reading a discussion, deuteronomy 18:22 was mentioned.

  i looked it up, and was struck by its connection to a remark made by geoffrey jackson during his arc testimony.

  the gist of the scripture is that if a prophet declares something is from god and it doesn't come true, he is speaking presumptuously, and should not be feared.

  Semantics really....

  While they may not say they are "prophets" , they do say that they are "gods channel" and the only organisation "chosen by God".

  So no matter how they spin it, they claim to speak for god.

  That is no different to a "Prophet"

  True, if you can understand the English language.

  However, the deliberately under-educated rank and file Jay Dub wont understand what the word "Semantics" means, much less that "gods Channel" and "Prophet" are synonymous..
