Hey undisfellowshipped, I forgot all about the "Target Zone". I almost choked when he said that! "Christendom is in the target zone and so are you if you have not joined gods people". Was the term target zone in the outline I wonder or was it something that the brother giving the talk came up with? If the latter is the case how ironic that it should happen.

N.G.O.s Mentioned in special talk today.
by NikL ini had the privilage...make that misfortune to escort my better half to the kingdumb hall today for what they consider a special talk.
i guess what makes it so special is that it is the same outline used in all congregations around the globe.. it was called, "has christendoms time for jugement arrived" , or something along those lines.
it was pretty much the old hard line approach ," we have the truth no other religions do and if you are visiting from some other church today you had better get your ass in gear and become a jay dub or else you are gonna bite the big one when god finally has enough of this crap".. anyway, the speaker mentioned an article about united nations n.g.o.s.

I just looked for anything that mentions them in the WT lib CD rom and I can't find anything except a brief mention of how the Vatican should be considered an N.G.O. in the October 22, 2000 Awake.
This guy made this comment in passing from one point to another and I didn't really get the gist of what he was saying. My mind may have been wandering a little bit at this point.
I was wondering, does anyone else remember any article mentioning N.G.O.s in a degrading fashion in any magazine from a, "few years back", as he put it?
I was wondering if he was trying to make some point to those of us in the audience that know about the cover up. The rank and file Jay Dub doesn't know what an N.G.O. is. I didnt until I heard about them here.
Any thoughts?

New Library CD Rom
by NikL inmy active jw wife just asked me to install the new cd rom watchtower library on her computer.
i was reading the licencing agreement and it stated that it was for jehovahs witnesses only and not for the general public.. why would that be do you suppose?
i mean if this is such important info wouldn't they want to distribute it as much as possible?

Just curious to me that active dubs see no problem with keeping this spiritual food to themselves.

What IS Gods name anyway?
by NikL ini am sure this topic has been brought up many times here but i don't always have the oppertunity to read all the posts so i am going to raise it again.. i went to the meeting the other day with my wife and this came up in the talk.
the speaker saying how improtant it was to have the right bible to get the most out of bible reading.
the right bible being the nwt of course because it uses the divine name which we all know is jehovah...or yahweh.
-
NikL
I am glad I raised this topic! Not only interesting but good for some laughs too.
I belong to the camp that doesn't believe god expects us to call him by a certain proper name but he doesn't get pissed if we do it either. As someone said earlier, "only the small gods do that". LOL
There is seriously some very good reasoning here, has anyone ever tried it on a active JW?

The right bible being the NWT of course because it uses the divine name which we all know is Jehovah...or Yahweh. He went on to tell how important and respectful it is to use the divine name.
That got me thinking about it and I got to wondering.
First, how can they be so sure of what the name is since the only letters are YHWH in the old Hebrew? They add the vowels to make it work. Well, what if they are the wrong vowels? Maybe gods name is Yehawha...or maybe Yohewaho. Who Knows?
Secondly, Why is it more respectful to use his name when praying to the heavenly father? When I address my father I don't use his proper name I use his title...Dad. If I used his name it would have been very disrespectful.
Any thoughts? -

Millions now living, expect to be DA'd
by cyberguy innew strategy to da/df millions who have left.
i'm wondering if there isn't a new policy of da'ing all those who no longer attend or are inactive "publishers" (find that in the bible!).
i've read a number of threads on this board whereby people are now being hunted-down, nazi-fashion, if when queried, "are you one of jw?

I went to the meeting with my active JW wife yesterday and her book study conductor came up after and arranged for a little meeting later in the week. When I came up he asked if I would be there. I am the inactive one not my wife so either they are calling on everyone or they are calling on her because they are concerned that she is married to an inactive one or maybe they wanted to interrogate her about me. Either way he made it sound like I was not the one they wanted to speak to.
I am not sure what will be the fallout but I will probably be there Thursday morning when they stop by.
Anyine have any ideas?
