That must have been the guy when I visited bethel around 1989/1990. Went with a group from my hall, I was 15/16 and without my family there. I remember him mocking us as we walked towards the doors and the heavy sister got his attention and he went off on how busty her sweater was and how it showed off her boobs. 15/16 year old me enjoyed it. He was yelling about her boobies being too big

***Red Alert for Memorial Avoiders***
by The Fall Guy indavid can't xsplane of the gibbering body is urging jw's to go out in field serve-us today to target their bible studies, return visits, and inactive jw's for a second time with the invitation to the annual rejection of christ - just in case they've "forgotten the date" or "lost their invitation.
go to 1 minute 45 seconds for the marketing speech.. https://tv.jw.org/#en/mediaitems/webhomeslider/pub-jwb_201904_14_video.
could the cult's hierarchy be fearing reduced attendances this year - especially of "interested ones"?.

Have You Been Invited To This Year’s Memorial ?
by minimus inlast year was the first time i didn’t get an invitation to the lord’s evening meal.
i think they finally gave up on me..

I received a text inviting me to go to the memorial about an hour away.
Nothing in print from the local hall about 4 miles away. They did leave a tract in my door about a week before Christmas so I don't expect them back until June at the soonest if they're like most halls I've been in around here.

When you were an active JW, did you ever have dealings with a pyramid scheme?
by Tameria2001 ini'm not sure why this memory popped up, and i was wondering if any others, when they were still active jw had dealings with a pyramid scheme involving other witnesses in the organization?
at the time it was 1993, and my husband and i were still newlyweds.
once in a while, we would attend a neighboring congregation because that was where he grew up, and some of his family was still attending there at the time.

There were a couple members in my last hall that made the rounds of just about every mlm scheme. Seemed like every other month they would corner me about the latest greatest thing I had to have

does anybody remember "marking?"
by stillin infor a while there was this arrangement, based on 2thess:3:14, wherby a talk was given on the service meeting describing a dangerous influence in the congregation, and reference was made to that scripture, thereby indicating to the congregation that this threat exists here, and that you should distance yourselves from anybody fitting that description.
frankly, it bothered me because even if somebody didn't know who was really being referred to, they felt like they might, so the congregation formed little fractures of suspicion.
i wrote to the society because of this divisive effect (that i'm sure wasn't the intended effect; creating a phantom "marked man," breaking up the unity in the cong...etc.).

If you're in your 20's and an elders daughter who is 25 gets into a "relationship" with you, you get publicly marked in multiple congratulations.
1995 or so

Positive memories as a JW child..
by fulano init is based on gorbatsjov's good topic, but we all must have had nice, pleasant, romantic moments in our congregations.. i was always a dedicated boy, baptized at 14. we had our bookstudy at 8:00 pm and before that our fieldservice at 7:00 pm .
most of times, as a 14-16 years old boy i was the only one there with our conductor.
he was from aruba, immigrated to our cold and wet european country.

Concealed carry Dubs
by scruffmcbuff ini spent a considerable length of time living and working in america (would love to imigrate one day).. almost everyone i worked with and made friends with carried a concealed firearm of somesort.
i found this pretty interesting and as an avid firearm fan even more so.. so to our american members here... .
as a jw did you or did you know any practising dubs who carried or if not had firearms for home defence?

Owned it for over a year before finally have the time to get to the range and shoot it. Really can't decide which were more fun, the 410 or the 45's. Burnt through a bunch of both that day!

I had a concealed carry permit for much of my adult JW life. During non jw stuff I almost always had something on me. Never had it in the car when meeting for field service -law where I am says if stopped by police the first thing you have to say is I have a permit and a weapon. Never wanted to say that with a bunch of Uber jws in the car as most every car I've ever owned had windows tinted too dark and I could be stopped at any time.
My guns were highly frowned upon in the KH, I was spoken to multiple times and questioned about my reasons for owning. My answer was always 'i enjoy target practice'. None of their damn business if I and why I sleep with a Taurus Judge next to my pillow or not.
Now that I'm out of the JW world I carry absolutely everywhere I legally can.

Do Jehovah`s Witnesses lie to receive Government benefits ?
by smiddy3 injehovah`s witnesses do not respect the ,governments of any nation from my experience with "witnesses" over 33 years as a card carrying member.
the governments are to be exploited taking advantage of all the provisions govt`s, hand out to their citizens.after all the govts, are under the control of satan the devil ,he is the ruler of this world and is at enmity with god.. so they feel justified in practicing deception as they the gov`ts.
being opposer`s of truth have no right to know the real truth.. i personally knew of pioneers who had no intention of finding work but were happy to take unemployment benefits from the govt.

I know a brother in my old hall - started working at the same place I was working at as a 2nd job. (my 2nd job, extra income - his only job). Lost his house because he would turn down the work, it was a lot of last minute on call work. They'd call and say can you work tomorrow.
He started renting a cheaper place, kept turning down work, couldn't pay the bills. All the while I'm getting 30 + hours a week out of the same company in addition to my full time job and still making meetings and FS. His excuse was 'when they call, I can't just be ready to go, I got things to do". WTF you don't have a job at all, when they call?!?! bs! You should be waiting in their office so they don't have to call.
A few weeks later the elders are meeting everyone at the door at meetings explaining there is a 'family in need' and a special box in the back room to donate to help them.
What does the brother do when he gets his donated help monies?
Can't make this stuff up. He says, 'well, I haven't been on a vacation on a while, so I'm taking a 4 day weekend and going out of town. I deserve a vacation'
Not only that he told the elders in the requests for help meeting that the only way anyone could make any money at that job was lying, cheating, and stealing. So, yup elders pull me aside to talk about my choice of jobs. Told them the reason I could earn a living and he couldn't was because I actually work and want to work and walked off
