The last generation really invested in 1914 is aging fast. The 70 year olds remembered it viscerally since they went through it as adults. Their children remember it in a less specific (but often vivid way from childhood). Their younger siblings and children have nothing to "get over" and aren't invested in it at all.

Has Justin Trudeau Finally Eaten Too Many Tide Pods?

I am not sure the degree of terrorism going on in Canada that's ISIS or even vaguely Muslim related. Canada seems pretty open, generally.
Shoot of asking people if they are ISIS or extremist (and I think an infiltrator would lie, anyway) how does one prevent criminals from entering the country when refugees by the nature of their experience often have no or few papers? We let a Catholic doctor in and he molested hundreds of girls. So religion isn't a great litmus test of good character as we all know in this forum.
OTOH, letting known ISIS supporters in would be kind of nuts. Even disenchanted ones still had a mindset that allowed them to believe they could support it. If they are citizens, then I'd think supporting such a group as ISIS would result in prison and a lot of counseling before they could be allowed out.

Is Trump Doing Better Than You Thought As President!
by minimus ini know that some here detested him while others may have simply accepted the reality of who is president.. do you think he is better than you might have thought as a president?.

Seriously? You have interesting theories about what happens with racism and sexism.
Does something being systemic make it not problematic or does it make sexists and racists a problem to be dealt with or should everyone shut up and accept their place?

Have you ever gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
by stuckinarut2 injust wondering if anyone has gone back to a meeting out of curiosity?
(perhaps to an area far from your old khall where you know no one).
with all the changes from 2012 onwards (videos, tv screens, new meeting format, new songs etc) it would be an odd experience to be in attendance!.

I'd go, but if he embarrassed if anyone I know NOW saw me going in. It's been decades, so I am curious.I have no interest in booking up with the cult again and consider the excuse i would give someone were i to show up. I don't want to be pursued.

If a woman walks into a room of men and they start making catcalls, lewd gestures and inappropriate touches, did she cause them to be pigs, or were they already pigs and her presence simply illustrated it clearly?
If she calls out their piggery and sexism, did she cause it or direct our attention to a reality?
Obama "caused" racism like the pretty woman causes sexism.
Trump took what existed and fed it and nurtured it and called it good.

No. I thought or hoped he'd shed his persona and act like a president. He has had a couple of highlights but they really served to underscore his unsuitability for this position in 2018, or indeed, this millenia.
Melania has acted like a lady. I still think she made a deal with the devil in marrying him, but it's not like I've made great choices, so. . .she's protecting her son and that's her job right now, imo.
I wish no ill will to the president, I just think he should go back to his local Mmcdonalds near his home base and play his games in trump tower. Not the seat of government.

i was polite, but dignified.

I kind of think giving that response and watching their jaw drop and their instant recognition that there is NO WAY would help them to see how dumb of a comment that it was. Of course, that would open up a can of worms and none of us needs any open wormy cans in our life!

Another Aspect from which to View Prostitution
by fulltimestudent inif we put on our western cultural (you know, the ones that say jesus made the world) eye-glasses we will 'see' prostitution as something bad.. the 'christian' influenced view is that prostitution is a criminal racket run by gangsters, and the women (and sometimes men) have either been bullied by their pimps, or drugged until they become addicts and forced to work in brothels.**.
some of that is likely true (at times), but is it always 'truth'?.
australia's government owned abc media network, has an article that invites us to take off our western cultural eye-glasses and see the world as it really is.
