JWs on campus
by Sarabethy init's my first time on this site though i am no stranger in the ex-jw community.
i come to you now asking for your assistance in what to present to the dean of students at my university.. why am i meeting with dean of students, you may ask?
because today, while innocently finishing an assignment in the school library, i happened to look out the window and see the jws with their stupid little cart.

Apostate driven lies
by pleaseresearch inok guys and gals.. let's have them.
as horrible as this may be i really want to see a few examples.
all my life i was taught that apostates just spread lies and falsehoods.. yet since i have left the organisation and looked deeply into apostate articles.

I remember one accusation of a ”lie”” that I investigated. The accuser had a picture of the supposed lie contrasted with his congregations opt of the publication. It was different! The reason was that the WT had ore than one publishing date and the embarrassing wrong info was removed and replaced . I believe it was really old like studies in the scriptures. So don’t know if the Jw was aware of it, but as a recovering apologist myself, I doubt the person is still in. The weight of evidence becomes undeniable.

FBI, The Mob and Loyalty
by JaniceA ini was reading an excerpt from comets memoir and was this quote (seen a lot in regards to trump) but my mind kept going back to wt and the mind f#ck they have going on with jws.
i know i'm not the only one whose mind went straight to the borg.
i hope lots of use have the same connection.

I thought an FBI synopsis of the mobs mentality was the interesting bit here. The political impact of this is another type of post in a different category. Having heard the Donald’s ideas about loyalty I had already thought he sounded like a mob boss, but reality is that if the media liked him, they could have spun out to sound innocuous at worst or even possibly positive.
Just the way an actual FBI director phrased that thing about the mafia to summarize my feelings and impressions of the WT org made me sit up and take notice.
Hes unemployed. . . I wish he could use his resources and connections to get the borg.

I found decades ago that some(few) of the anti JW books would quote WT publication in either a sloppy or misleading way. I did a lot of research pre internet and went to original publications which were easier to find in the 70s and 80s hardcover.
As it was decades ago, I don't have specific examples, but occasionally it happened. I Remember only 2 examples of outright lies told by a supposed former JW. regarding teachings, but mostly I saw ignorant mistakes (calling the KH a church (which JWs used to reflexively correct with a long winded explanation)) . I saw a few sketchy anecdotes and still do occasionally. The commonest issue I found as a young person seeking answers was sloppy quotes that in my semi indoctrinated way, I felt were being deliberately misunderstood. Now I see a lot of things that a non JW would not understand the same way as a JW. That's because JWs are indoctrinated. I didn't understand that at that point. I do now.
Most anti JW literature is more sophisticated now, and there aren't so many people who are pissed off and unhinged a bit like in the late 70s.
No one needs to lie. I think apologists like to go after anecdotal stories because they can't be proved, and they love to go after the trinity, thinking that if they can pull them in with one critical issue, they can keep them, destroying the rest of their teaching by attacking general credibility with trinity issue.
the problem is that the world, especially america, is more post-christian. The WT was trying to convert Christians before. Now they are getting folks who don't really care about religion or they actively oppose it altogether. The game has really changed. No one needs to lie. The Truth is easy to access.

"Interacting with Trump, Comey writes, gave him “flashbacks to my earlier career as a prosecutor against the Mob. The silent circle of assent. The boss in complete control. The loyalty oaths. The us-versus-them worldview. The lying about all things, large and small, in service to some code of loyalty that put the organization above morality and above the truth.”
The result, in Comey’s telling, is “the forest fire that is the Trump presidency.”
Politics aside, whose brain immediately went off the topic of this presidency?

We are giving too much power to the watchtower
by sinboi ini am just 17. many of you here are much older than me.. i do feel that offering advice here is like teaching my father how to fuck.
but seriously, i do see the problem here.
we are focusing more on the problem than the solution.. i have been reading mind power books for quite some time.

Sinboi, the WT claim is that first off they don't shun(,except for all their exceptions,) and especially that they don't shun family members who are minors or still in the family home. The claim by the WT is adamant that they don't shun family members, especially children, which you technically are. They make this claim before governments, under oath in court and in their literature. Call them on it with evidence; They shouldn't be softening up, they should never have abdicated their parenting.

Be careful to live life well for yourself. Every endeavour should not be part of a massive f#$k you ,watchtower!
At some point,ASAP we need to cut those ties to the borg (,there are exceptions!) even if our family members choose to shun, and while it's a shitty thing that the WT enforces, it's on them. We can't control what WT family says about us.
We don't want to let that shape our whole lives, we don't even need to feel bad if we screw it up and the WT adherents are gloating over it. People can make mistakes! The WT allows themselves plenty. Don't let shame over your growing pains become a vehicle to entrap you in WT think! POMI folks ruin themselves with that shit and often end up as JW apologists who begin every forum or letter to the editor with a disclaimer about not being a JW.
Congratulations on being smart enough to escape at such a young age. Your parents religion claims they don't shun minor children. Didn't they get that memo?

When You Die Would You Haunt The Governing Body? If It were Possible?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini've been reading a lot about reincarnation these days and i'm beginning to think that it quite possibly might be true, it seems to fit in nicely with the idea that we live in a computer simulation.. anyway according to the tibetan book of the dead when we die we seem to hang around on the earth waiting for rebirth.
at which time we could be ghosts.

Re:Green handshakes & IRS
by carla ini was wondering if co's who get 'green handshakes' ever report their 'income' from these jw benefits?
in the us even gifts beyond a certain amount must be reported.
jw's like to claim how honest they are, do they report all their income?.
-
JaniceA
The giver is taxed after the threshold to be clear.
There are ESTATE PLANNING professionals to advise for those looking to distribute their assets gradually before death to ANY heirs to avoid tax penalties. I’m pretty sure here are experts in Wallkill to advise any JWs who want to lessen their estate tax burden.
If anyone especially loves their CO or a GB member, they can double the donation if half goes to wife. Because women have no other glory than that in the borg.

I thought gifts are only taxable to giver if more than a certain amount.
