Sorry to hear that you left the "truth"

the other day i ran into a jw who just happened to be my very friend during my jw days (which were most of my life).

so for about 60 years we were each other’s very best friend.

we grew up together from about 8 years old and are the same age, now in our early 70’s.

They should release it and get to the bottom of it. I didn't vote for the old or new administration. I'm sick of the gossip, innuendo and denials. On all sides. If Canada was warmer. . .They have their own intrigues, I'm sure. Im over all this crap every day.

White clean shaven man runs over muslims

so in england they report a "white clean-shaven man" mowed down worshippers at a mosque.

why do they never make such detailed descriptions when muslims do the same?.

i hope this event isn't a bad turning point.

Acting as if every JW is a child molester and every homeschool family are abusive nutters or that every white/black/chinese/lgbt/female/male is an imminent threat because a lot of "their kind" has been in the news recently is not logical or rational.

We have a very diverse community that says a lot of controversial things. The banned poster was not the one who brought up "beheading", but after their pointing out the foolishness of the original statement, the excuse was made to ban.

It's a shame that someone who has been shunned since childhood by a religious group for not believing is now shunned by an atheist running a support group of over a decade for believing something unpopular.

If this forum has started disfellowshipping and banning because we don't like the beliefs of others, how are we an improvement over the organization?

This has been a good place to see what they (the organization and JWs) are up to and to express ourselves. I'd hate for it to become a place where every non conforming poster is accused of being a threat for daring to disagree with a moderator.

For those who think she is terribly misled and part of a horrible thing, did you ever think that this has been her safe place? Plenty of posters started posting here defending ideas that they now dont support.

There was no threat ever made, no matter what an extremist group was or is up to.

There is much good that comes from this forum, but this case is not a shining example of "tolerance".

Best way to deal with anger at the GB while waking up?

i am wondering how people have personally delt with the anger at the gb when waking up and realizing it’s a scam, lie , and it’s awfully depressing .

i have had difficulty concentrating at work , have had an emotional roller coaster between okay days and awful days.

Be strategic. Don't let your emotions or your RIGHT to take certain actions or say certain things overwhelm the need to care for yourself long term. Ultimately you want to make wise decisions that will benefit your future and your family.

Seems the threat of the Muslim poster was all in your overactive imagination! Heads were definitely "lost" in this thread, college boy. Someone posts for a dozen years in a polite and respectful manner, not losing it even under attack, and they are shut out.

Bravo. You all just saved your virtual world from a rational conversation.

What to Do....Please Help. Awakening JW for a very long time

i have been having doubts for many years and as most jw's i have certainly not done myself a favor by suppressing all of my critical thinking.

i am married with 3 kids and my wife and i are inactive, but my wife has made it very clear in speech and action that she wants to go to all meetings, field service, and indoctrinate our kids.

Initiate marriage counseling. Document abuse. If things don't change, get divorce and keep kids away from the insanity.

A huge country just took all their assets (that they didn't hide first). Another, Australia might soon get some. Other countries are examining their credibility as tax free entities or tax supported entities.

I have some hope, but mostly am counting on attrition to kill them off like shakers. They will outlive me, but maybe not my grandkids.

i'm pimo and very much not wanting to believe, but like the daniel statue prophecies, these ones about jesus stick in my mind and give me "hmmm, maybe" moments..

Anyone wonder why God couldn't have written a holy book that would need theologians, interpretation, philosophy and linguistics experts to discern the message? It doesn't matter how many of us sincerely sought truth, we needed to be able to evaluate every point of the book and the men who wrote it, lived it and teach it. And bully for us if we discern it incorrectly or follow the wrong teacher or philosophy.

That is the God that's going to judge me? The God who created me to have trouble with long division expects me to figure out the mysteries of the universe in between making a living, raising a family and keeping up with my profession, technology and current events?

So, yeah, you can call me an idiot. But I spent years sincerely trying to seek after the truth and realized that basic human decency cuts across religion, philosophy and politics. So does evil.

So Jesus or God will send me to hell or destroy me for believing wrong when all I have REALLY is a book written in a coded language filled with meanings informed by prehistoric cultures and dead languages that can't be directly translated.
